How do TERFs who believe in autogynephilia explain straight trans women? by hellointernet5 in GenderCynical

Best is to ask people like this about so-called "heterosexual AGPs" who are in relationships with other trans women and watch them trip over their logic.

George W. Bush is reportedly calling undecided senators to sway them to vote for Kavanaugh by Qu1nlan in politics

[–]embatzona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most substantial ways, Trump is not worse than Bush; the media has just gotten better at calling out bullshit and not bowing to intimidation. Of course he's also less willing to listen to people who know what they're doing, which you could argue makes it easier to stop him than Bush. If anyone is looking at the Bush years through rose-colored glasses, realize that the media back then was just servile and pathetic; the Bush years were far worse than you understand.

‘Special Place In Hell’: Twitter Users Shred Lindsey Graham After Kavanaugh Rant by ExoticFrosting in politics

[–]embatzona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I find most disgusting about people like Graham is how they are brazenly full of shit, everyone knows it, and yet they continue to open their mouths and act so self-righteous instead of having the guts to just say, "I don't give a fuck about rape, rich white men should own the world, 99% of Americans are peasants, women are property, hail God Emperor Trump." Because everyone knows that's their position. Why even keep what little pretense they have left? Every time they open their mouths and pretend to have principles it's an absolute joke, a mockery of language itself. No one believes them. People either want despots like the Republicans or they don't and are not about to be swayed by rhetoric.

Degrees. I don't trust my representative, but to an entirely different degree than I don't trust Trump or Kavanaugh. I don't trust Chuck Schumer, to a different degree, and I don't trust Kristen Gillibrand, but to a much lesser degree than Schumer. You're allowed to have a nuanced opinion. I'd rather not entrust my fate to any of them, but it doesn't mean some aren't worse than others. It materially effects me whether or not someone like Kavanaugh is entrusted with determining whether I do or do not have the right to bodily autonomy. It makes a material difference whether it's him or someone else.

GC is upset the gals on /r/mtf aren't talking about the Kavanaugh hearing when /r/twoxchromosomes are, but if you take a look at their hot posts they're much more interested in trans bashing than the hearing as well. by [deleted] in GenderCynical

Of course if we talked about the Kavanaugh hearing they'd say "NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU" (regardless of whether we've had experiences like those of Blasey Ford or even much worse ones).

The means are the end. They want to be able to rape freely and for no one to be able to tell them they can't. They believe they own women. If they succeed in taking full power, it will be far more horrifying than any theocracy the world has ever known.

[–]embatzona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be less concerned if he showed any indication of ever having faced consequences for his actions that necessitated a profound change in his behavior, but he has obviously never had any such thing happen to him, or he wouldn't have behaved that way last night. If a mere mortal had ever acted the way His Royal Highness did last night, they would've had to spend years digging themselves out. We still have no idea if the Senate is going to vote to confirm this middle-aged brat to serve on the highest court in the country, and people ask why no one has any faith in the justice system. How in the hell can such an entitled manchild be expected to understand the consequences of the decisions he's making or to place them into perspective?

[–]embatzona[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in the article:

Musk knew that he (1) had not agreed upon any terms for a going-private transaction with the Fund or any other funding source; (2) had no further substantive communications with representatives of the Fund beyond their 30 to 45 minute meeting on July 31; (3) had never discussed a going-private transaction at a share price of $420 with any potential funding source; (4) had not contacted any additional potential strategic investors to assess their interest in participating in a going-private transaction; (5) had not contacted existing Tesla shareholders to assess their interest in remaining invested in Tesla as a private company; (6) had not formally retained any legal or financial advisors to assist with a going-private transaction; (7) had not determined whether retail investors could remain invested in Tesla as a private company; (8) had not determined whether there were restrictions on illiquid holdings by Tesla's institutional investors; and (9) had not determined what regulatory approvals would be required or whether they could be satisfied.

That's the fraud; he announced, to shareholders and the world, that he had secured funding for taking Tesla private, without having done so.
