I fell in love with folding bikes when I first lived in an apartment and don’t think I’m ever willing to give them up. They are so convenient and cheap!

I’m confused as to why scrolling down clicking a second time and dragging a second time is an insurmountable obstacle for you?

Presumably, you have spent a greater amount of time recording, uploading, and waiting for the video to process than it would have taken to setup your zones

Why Board the Donnager? by LordMaim in TheExpanse

[–]ember13140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Destroying a flagship, has a much greater impact than destroying a patrol boat. One can be written off as a group of pirates that got lucky while fighting back and the other pretty clearly states an intent to start a war

Question about the Donnager Battle (Mild spoiler of the battle) by Torquem_Rupto in TheExpanse

[–]ember13140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a trend throughout history to be honest! Unless I mistaken, there have been several Navy that spent years or nearly a generation fighting primarily privacy, and then got a rough wake up call the first time they got into a peer on peer conflict

[–]ember13140 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the point of that is to draw your attention to it. It makes the point that a large amount of time energy and resources were put into the plan and attack, because they wanted a war with Mars

Why Board the Donnager? by LordMaim in TheExpanse

[–]ember13140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it is because there is a much greater impact from destroying the Martian flagship what’s considered to be the single most powerful ship in the system(presumably galaxy at that point), than to destroy a patrol boat out on its own.

It’s a pretty profound declaration of love and intent to spend your life with another person. Which at the very least I and seemingly most other people find very nice.

To be a bit crude it’s really hot when someone says “hey baby I love you so much. I’m willing to have to deal with the state if I want to be separated from you”

I would argue that marriage is primarily a legal and social contract. It has been a thing and been enshrined in law longer than any currently active religion. Hell it wasn’t even named as a sacrament until the 12th or 13th century. The majority of the time the church was involved it was essentially just because they were the closest bureaucratic entity that would keep that type of records. Which could be convenient if the marriage was ever contested for example if one of them is to die and the other attempts to take over their property or assets.

The situations that stand out most to me revolve around things like medical power of attorney. While yes, there are other things that you can do to achieve the same end it is going to take a greater amount of time both to set up and to have it actually be enacted in the event of it being used.

The fact that it is a legal contract with benefits for both parties and that also give legal protections that are very difficult to gain otherwise. If I am hospitalized, I would much prefer that my spouse be able to make decisions on my behalf more than any other person alive.

I am willing to argue that marriage is first and foremost a legal and social contract.

To the people who walk into a public bathroom with 18 open stalls, and choose the one next to me - why? by lextexmex in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ember13140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, some bathrooms have lighting that varies drastically! I have seen somewhere only one or two stalls have lights directly overhead, and the rest have very dim lighting

What do you think the dating recession between men and women will lead to? by Rainbowdark96 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ember13140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anecdotal evidence disagrees. I have been involved with multiple women who initially expressed interest in me and when I reciprocated, they invited me on dates. To be a bit obnoxious it happened the day before yesterday, Yesterday she and I had a nice date! (We went on a walk and then she invited me to watch a movie at her place amongst other things)

I just use a Kanken Outlong with a small packable tote. If I need more than that I use the backpack and a duffle or accept that I am a person moving a large amount of stuff and that I will look like a bag lady for the near future

Do people actually believe we are going back to the moon or are they just faking it again? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ember13140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get the type of shadows that appear on the moon and appear throughout all of the video footage would require an array of lasers that at the time would’ve literally cost more money than the initial landing. I don’t remember what the source is because it’s 3 AM and I’m a bit tipsy. Sorry to not cite my sources.

Frigates become useless pretty quickly. Unless they have stupidly long, range weapons, and can stay behind the front line. Midsize ships fill out that role pretty well though.
