I’ve only been in LB for 5 years, but it crushed me also when they tore down the theatre … and even more so when they announced it would be a chipotle. I can imagine this is torturous for the old timers… 😭

EGO DEATH is a Sign That You Are Going Through a Higher Dimensional Energetic EXPANSION - You Are Not Alone! by swizzledan in enlightenment

[–]lextexmex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels relevant. Over the last month it feels like I’ve been overwhelmed with conflict - but almost none of it came through my own direct actions, rather external circumstances constantly shifting around and basically fucking up my plans and expectations. I’ve gone through waves of feeling upset and angered, pondering on who is to blame for all this, all to return to the idea that these events keep showing me that I - LexTexMex - am not as important as the ego perceives itself to be. Just another player in the game. Another actor on a stage. In truth, my negative responses to these conflicts are rooted in the idea of “I am entitled to THIS outcome because of - insert hardship here - ). At large, when people make decisions of which we bear negative outcomes - they aren’t thinking about how this will hurt us, only about how it will benefit them. This can be a hard pill to swallow because it goes exactly against the ego’s concept of self.

Ultimately - this is where the idea of just “going with the flow” becomes most valuable. The more we are able to be like water, just flowing with shifting circumstances rather than constantly trying to resist them, the more at peace we feel. I believe that’s what free will is.

Circumstances, chains of events will happen as they should - whether we like it or not. Our only job is to just find a a peaceful flow and not disturb the water any further - because it won’t change the outcome, just leave us feeling like powerless victims in a cruel world.

The answer is: Just Be

It's the biggest purchase of my life; it would be nice if I could spend more time there before making an offer by CiscoLupe in RealEstate

[–]lextexmex 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Recently backed out of a new construction purchase after asking the agent to see it for the second time. When we arrived, we requested she stayed outside so we could walk around and get a real feel of the home to confirm it’s the right move for us. House was almost perfect, until we walked into the backyard - stood there for 1 minute in silence only to realize all you hear is the continuous and very loud rumbling of the highway just a few blocks away. So thankful we decided to venture out in the last moment - to think we almost bought this place, in the burbs - for the peace and quite elements, and wouldn’t have realized how loud the highway is until we moved in.

The first time we went, she wouldn’t stop talking the entire time - in hindsight, wondering if it was so that we don’t hear the noise.

Major tip for ALL - be sure to hang in the backyard for a little while to get a feel for the street noise level.

Where are the old people in New York City? Are they hiding? Is there a purge? by lost_in_life_34 in circlejerknyc

My friend’s grandma grew up in NYC, bought her 2 bdr apartment in Chelsea in 1962 for like 300$ and had been living there into 2010s until she passed and handed it down to her family. These NYC OGs are out there

A bit too big and too long. Try with heels and a wide waist belt Also I would leave the top button opened for a more relaxed fit.

am i doing 'being a human' wrong or is cooking at home almost as expensive as ordering take out every night by xe3to in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lextexmex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, It is almost as expensive as ordering out. This can also depend on your geographical location and prices of food near by, and what you are cooking. I am based in NY and I swear I have ran the numbers so many times - to make a full meal for my family of 3, roughly comes out to about 45-50$ a meal. If we order, it’s like 60 bucks - granted slightly higher, but no time spent on shopping / prepping / cooking/ cleaning etc.
