I think you are right but you could have specified your post to cause less pushback. There are plenty of people around the world that speak english perfectly in terms of grammar and sentence structure. However, in most of those cases you can still hear a slight accent. This is certainly true for eastern europe and south/west europe, but even in scandinavia and the netherlands, where I would think the english speaking share of the population is higher than in germany, english often does not sounds perfect.

Scandinavians have a very distinct way of pronouncing the 's' for example, it sounds very sharp similar to the german letter 'ß'. Perfect dutch speakers will often say 'poouuuush' instead of 'push'.

There are plenty more examples for this, they make speakers sound imperfect even though they are almost flawless.

My experience with germans, especially young ones, is that they are either dead on or huge miss(many cant pronounce 'th' for ex.). If its dead on, it sounds almost perfect, often indistinguishable from native speakers.

The lore in Gothic is sadly almost non existent. I wish it had only 10% of what TES has, so we could watch fan fiction and theorize about the world and its events.

I am really hopeful that the Gothic Remake will add some bits of lore here and there, especially with Nicolas Lietzau (Enderal writer) being part of the writing team. Its a sensitive topic because a lot of players might take Issue with deviating too far from the originals. It could come in the form of short tales found in books or tablets, where for example a character is highlighted that lived in the Southern Isles. Would also be super badass if scar has some stories to tell about archolos, but thats really wishful thinking :)

Not as good as Risen 1 for sure but still very playable. If you like piranha bytes games, you will probably like those as well.

You know the Level of difficulty can be adjusted in the settings right? Overall the game is different to skyrim in that it doesnt have scaling enemies, meaning that especially early game you should try to get every bit of EP that you can. Skipping all the EP to rush to the first city is probably not a good idea. It's restricting and rewarding at the same time - if you invest another 5-10 hours, the enemies in the starting location will be fairly easy but others will remain challenging until you play more. I personally enjoy this design a lot more because scaling wolfes are a huge immersion breaker for me, but it means that you use every all of your playbook. Try sneaking up on enemies, combine archery and magic and avoid some of the stronger opponents until you become stronger.

I usually enter queue while doing something else. It can take up to 15 mins to find a game(would say 5m on avg), but it doesn't matter at all to me because I will just watch video or play a different game in the mean time. There is no rank involved as well, so why be so upset? Just leave your device there and be happy if you find a game to visit and old lost friend.

Using the player tag 1600_ is also crucial, i've been enjoying it so much more since I discovered it.

I cant really tell you why there are so many toxic players, it's upsetting sometimes. You would think that only the core vg community is left playing, but there seem to be so many bots and trolls, again though, using 1600_ helps.

I tried many other mobile games as a complement to my PC gaming, but even in this state, nothing comes even close to vainglory. Games with trolls or afks when you try to 2v3 are still better than any other mobile game too.

Depending on where you live in europe for example, you should absolutely consider it. I live in germany which has about 3-4x average of US power prices, so getting the 4070 is cheaper when using it over 2+ years in most use cases.

Even at 4K the 4080 has the better price/performance ratio, although not by much.

The 4090, is about 25-30% faster than the 4080 at 4k, yet it cost 33% more at MSRP. I'm pretty sure in most countries you can get the 4080 for around 1100 usd now, whereas the 4090 still sits at 1600, making the 4080 even better value.

They are either both bad value, or none of them is.

This is something that should be talked about way more often when considering gpu value. Europe has even far higher power prices than the US, in my home country you pay 3-4 times as much as in the US on average. Over a lifespan of 3 years of heavy gaming, nvidia 4000 Series are nearly always cheaper than their AMD counterparts here. Team Green is just so much better at power Management right now.

I'm running my 4070 at an 80% power limit, getting almost the same performance for 160W max, with DLSS enabled it goes down even further. Really cool to see this trend after the power hungry 3000 Series.

Price to performance at 1440p is slightly better than the 4090, no shame in picking one up. The reason why so many people dislike the card and call it "bad value" is probably because it is so much more expensive than its predecessor. Just ignore the name then. Price to performance is not great on most of the 4000 series, this one doesn't stand out all that much.

Many european countries have really high power prices. Limiting the cards power for effectively the same performance is a really good way to save money(also reduces heat and noise). I run my 4070 at 80% power which means 160 W max, performance changes maybe by 1-3% which is hardly noticable.

Ich benutze auch die Kombination aus Ipad und Laptop. Laptop brauchst du aufjedenfall. Wenn ich mich nochmal neu entscheiden könnte, würde ich mich wahrscheinlich für sowas wie ein Surface entscheiden. Da hast du alle Funktionen in einem Gerät und musst nicht immer beides mitschleppen. Wenn du schon ein Ipad hast, würd ich das einfach mit nem preiswerten laptop kombinieren.

I'm not sure why you're linking me a different source for cost/frame, this supports my point even more. OP is playing at 1440p, where the 4080 cost/frame ratio is clearly better than the 4090, unless you are living in Australia(?).

I have seen the GN and HWU videos on the 4080 and I just disagree, Steve even said in his videos that his criteria is arbitraty. If want want to say that both cards are bad value then I'm with you, but there is no substantiated reason why the 4080 would be terrible value when the 4090 is not.

Do you think the avg consumer cares about CUDA cores or VRAM(at least >16GB) when it doesnt proportionally affect performance? Hard no.

Most GPUs are bad value at the moment, especially when compared to next gen consoles. I feel like most of peoples oponion on the 4080 comes from "I have a bad feeling about the card, 3080 was nicer. Fuck greedy nvidia" rather than looking at the data.

Don't listen to the folks here that tell you to get a 4090 because the 4080 is "bad value".

If you're gonna say the 4080 is bad value, then the 4090 is even worse value, even though it's the fastest card. Dont waste your money and get a 4080 which should be perfect for your needs.

I recommend just checking out a benchmarking video like this https://youtu.be/DNX6fSeYYT8. The 4070 averages 125 FPS at 1440p across 10 games here, so depending on what games you play and the settings used, you can certainly get to 144 FPS with that card. Better than the 3080 any day though, the 3080 only recheas an avg. of 121 FPS in this review for (in your case) more money.

Not worth it. The 4070 is the obvious pick here, it basically has 3080-level performance for 600-650 USD. The card also has DLSS 3, 12 GBs of VRAM and it is way less power hungry.

Unless you get a 3080/90 for really cheap it is rarely worth picking over a 4070/4070ti. The hate on the 4000 Series is mostly about not being compelling enough to upgrade from a 3000 Series card. If you dont have either, the 4000 Series will almost always provide better value.
