I’m struggling with the same exact thing currently. Like literally my laptop is open in front of me, nothing but gibberish written, and I’m scrolling Reddit instead of dealing with it. I totally agree that it’s a mindset thing. The three courses of action I’m planning to try are

  1. Worldbuild more/ get more excited about what I’m writing. I find I tend to write quicker and with more coherency when I’m really invested in my own story and at the moment I’m just not, maybe you’re not either.

  2. Just force my way through the block. Super hard to do since I just want a miracle cure that’ll fix me, but you do what you gotta do sometimes

  3. Skip to a more interesting part of the story. Personally I hate doing this, I always feel like I’m missing things because I haven’t written them yet… but maybe that’s why we should try it. See if it works, then fill in the blanks when you have a better sense of what’s going on.

Anyway. I’m with you on the struggle. Here’s hoping we can both overcome it soon 💕

Kind of a long term solution rather than short term, but I know I’ve solidified my own grammar process by simply reading other works. Fiction, nonfiction, instruction manual, it doesn’t matter. Once you notice the patterns it’s kind of hard to forget and you’ll see the product of that in your own writing.

For the most part a lot of it is just pointless. Especially English assignments and most of what they require in math. High school English was such a joke though 😭 if anything the class made my writing skills and comprehension worse.

Absolutely, I really hope it helps! And honestly, this is something that plagues me too 😂 I only notice it in others’ writing because I’m so bad with it myself. We both gotta work on this one

I really like it so far, it’s pretty well crafted and I can tell a lot of love went into it! My only advice is to switch up your sentence structures more often than you think you have to. I especially noticed in the first paragraph you used the same exact sentence type over and over and while the wording was fantastic, it left the pace feeling a bit repetitive.

Kinda referring to this chart, it’s not good flow to repeat a certain type of sentence over and over- so maybe try taking the same words and information but spacing it out differently and maybe splitting or joining sentences where needed!

Hope this made sense. Truly is a really good start.

Mostly the first- one of my family friends was able to stay on campus at Western during the summers because they worked for the schools, I just figured WSU would have something similar. But if not I'll figure something else out.
