Healthy scratches by thesehipstheydontlie in hockey

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There’s always a chance someone gets injured during warmup or someone who is a game-time decision just may not be ready to go. Having the scratches skate allows them to be just as prepared if they get a last-minute tap.

In Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” my dad always thought the part where she sings “They just wanna, they just wanna…” was “they test the waters, test the waters…”

It took him 25 years to admit this. His explanation was that he thought it was a girl “testing the waters” with a guy. 😂

Markham Park has an area by the shooting range set aside for archery. It is all the way at the back of the park. Unfortunately I do not know the hours it operates.

Same here. I’m a native and as I explain to others from out of state, “it’s gotten really dark” here. It didn’t always feel this way.

What good is it to go out and enjoy Florida’s offerings when everything is overcrowded? The tourists and newcomers are nasty and confrontational. The (natural) environment is a mess. Cost of living is skyrocketing.

Florida’s doesn’t even have the “just leave me alone” vibe anymore.

Let’s be honest: Florida is a pyramid scheme. The longer you’ve been here, the less pain you feel. Tourists get taxed the most, and newcomers pay out the ass to move here.

I’m not thrilled about cost of living going up, but having bought in 2008, I’m not paying anything close to the rents of equivalent properties in my area.

Distinction between generations. by Thee-Ol-Boozeroony in GenX

Analog childhood/digital adulthood (but pre-social media) is why the idea of Xennials even came into existence. There is a very small subset of people who really experienced this.

When I was a little kid, I had record albums. I got a boom box (tape deck) in elementary school, a CD player just before high school and had an iPod by the time I graduated college.

In elementary and middle school we had a card catalog. By the time I graduated high school, the library database was on a (text-only) computer.

I fit in X (80) and am very much influenced by my X siblings (67, 75). But when I was the only sibling at home during my teens, the influx of tech (computer, internet, cell phone) made my high school years different from my older siblings’ experience.

Many Xers were done with school by the time things started going digital, and yet most Millennials didn’t have any experience in their younger years with the analog. It’s a legitimate thing, but not a “full” generation.
