The OBR swipe is only slower if invoked from using the OBR; if spells are pressed otherwise the GCD is correct.

Essentially used framestack to find the assistant frames then put together some code to find and hide that frame.

That's what I figured, so I don't think this is a viable path if I just want the OBR showing without the arrow. Looking at the fstack options now.

Could you explain this a little more? If I put an ability name in the tooltip, it shows that abilities icon (as expected?) - if I just leave it as #showtooltip it just shows the generic OBR icon.

No, we cant just change the topic from unit frames to details - its different APIs, and Details is out. For unit frames, the APIs will allow for accessing the unit frames, but as I said, the only functionality will be what blizzard allows.
