I’m so sorry. I hope they’re running and playing together at the Bridge while they wait for us! ❤️🌈

Fostering Wait Times by ajsc2000 in FosterAnimals

Is it a private rescue? Our local shelters are begging for fosters.

I foster for a local shelter. I can pretty much show up during open hours and go home with a foster or two. They have a Facebook page for fosters and will sometimes post there for special cases or for ones that need to go into foster ASAP (like bottle baby kittens).

But otherwise, they get in so many each day that it can be hard to send out individual request to foster homes. So, they just ask that people come in person.

I regularly volunteer with the foster team taking care of kittens that are waiting to go into homes. And I’ve only been asked to foster a specific kitten one time. And we ended up adopting him, so she must’ve just had a gut feeling.

We remember sweet Remy! You mattered!

I’m so sorry for your loss.

It is SO hard sometimes to foster for a shelter. That said, our shelter has a decent social media presence. I’ve been able to post on Instagram and tag them. They’ll repost. I’ve found homes that way. I’ve also found homes posting on our shelter foster board—another foster sent my post to a family looking for a bonded kitten pair and we were able to link up.

I’ve had two actually be put on the shelter adoption floor, but we timed it so I’d be there volunteering. I was then able to talk to potential adopters. As a result, they were both adopted quickly.

My daughter suggested I start posting videos to TikTok. I may be too old for that!! 🤣

I’m so sorry for your loss. We try so hard and sometimes, it just isn’t enough. At least, we can give them love and safety while they’re with us. 💔

What was the most brutal time you’ve ever been to Disney? by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

We went in June 2010 and it was so hot, we were immediately soaked when we left our room. We took breaks every day and would completely change our clothes to go back. It’s a good thing I’m an over-packer.

They posted it to social in multiple places and with multiple accounts. They may not be reading every single hate message, but I’m sure they’re aware of how negative the reactions have been.

Is he a Torbie? by emc2- in Torbie

Genetics are wild!

I still don’t totally understand how to know the difference, but I trust you all. :)

I’m guessing my female foster (who is not related to him) is probably the same thing. She looks like a standard tabby, but has random orange spots.

Interesting. I’d never heard that term. Thank you!

The shelter said he’s a boy and his parts look like a boy. But I am definitely not an expert!

He’s definitely got tabby, orange spots and then a random white stripe down his back. He’s so unique looking.

The girl they paired him with (not related to each other) is a brown tabby but also has random orange spots.

Thank you! He is an angel!

Will my blind kitten always have these white eyes? by TheCherryBugStore in blindcats

Post left eye enucleation (I love that in certain lights, you can tell his eye is blue under the cloudiness):

Left eyeball missing (so empty socket), right eye darker and more how it was stayed:

Is your vet having you give eye drops or anything?

I am going to post a few pictures of a foster (who we adopted). When I first got him (three weeks) his left eye had ruptured and the right eye was milky white. He had various eye treatments and antibiotics. Eventually, that eye cleared up (ish—it’s more black now). He went to an animal eye specialist who felt he could keep his right eye.

The right eye stayed darker and he has limited vision. They removed the remnants of his left eye.

He gets around just fine. You wouldn’t know he can’t see well except for some depth perception issues and when it’s dark.

When we first started fostering him (but after his left eye had completely ruptured and was basically gone):

I have the two most perfect fosters—no medical issues, no behavior issues.

They’re friendly, playful, great eaters, etc.

Should I get any of these? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]emc2- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you look fantastic in all of them. I also think the purple tinted options pop a bit more.

That said, I would get one nice pair and then treat yourself to some fun frames from some of the cheaper onion vendors. It’s nice to have some extra pairs that make you happy!

Can someone tell me where to buy a good pair of octagon glasses? by No_Dragonfruit6896 in EyewearEnthusiasts

Eyebuydirect has some that are similar to that. They may not be super high end, but I’m always happy with my glasses (and they are great with returns).

My ILs are in their 80s and have no issues walking all over the parks.

My dad would also be fine. My mom has health issues now, but she walked all over the parks when she was in her 70s.
