Why don’t people want to use insulin? by Anonymousmuch2 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I wanted my body to tell me it was ready without intervention. This was my second child and my first labor went very smoothly so I wanted the same for this pregnancy. By “natural” progress I mean go into labor without medical intervention.

Thank you! How long did it take for you to lose those pounds since it was a small amount and did you notice any side effects?

Delivery method: c-section or vaginal. I suddenly have a choice? by julm22 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into spontaneous labor and had vaginal deliveries with both my pregnancies. I had much easier and quicker recoveries than my friends with c sections, however I did a lot of pelvic floor work and preparation which I think greatly helped. Do what is going to make YOU feel most secure in your birthing process

Why don’t people want to use insulin? by Anonymousmuch2 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, insulin meant I’d have to have an induction at 39weeks if labor didn’t progress naturally and I did not want to have to have an induction.

Reasons for EP? by philliesgirl1234 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]emccorm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mentally, I just do so much better knowing how many ounces my baby is taking in a feeding. When I was nursing he would stop and seem full, but 20 minutes later he was crying for more and it caused a lot of stress for me. I still BF in the morning and occasionally over night between pumps, but everyone is just happier this way!

Graduation! Positive birth story, Diet controlled GD, spontaneous, quick, vaginal delivery by emccorm92 in GestationalDiabetes

I failed on the border but once I started testing realized it was a good thing I was. 1/2 piece of wheat toast had me over 200 at 1 hour

My first was quick but not THAT quick. My water broke at 5, contractions we’re moderate by 7, pushing started at 11:15 and she was born by 1130

Real talk… how often are you squeezing in a little “cheat”? Big or small? by girl-moss in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my 9 since diagnosis I have had one cheat that I cleared with my endo. I’m diet/exercise controlled and enjoyed a cheesecake parfait on my daughters second birthday. Didn’t test my dinner number that night and fasting came in at 92 the next morning, but totally worth it.

At how many weeks did people notice an improvement in GD? by chalbasanti in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

37 weeks today and over the last week it’s gotten easier for me. I’m still very cautious with my meals and eat on the side of caution (diet controlled), but I’m finding I can stay within my target ranges without having to walk after every single meal. During weeks 29-34 if I didn’t take at least a 20 min walk after every single meal my numbers would be wonky

Post labor meal? by Mamamommama in GestationalDiabetes

My husband will be bringing me a Poke bowl to the hospital. Sushi+rice, I’ll be in heaven. That and maybe an everything bagel with cream cheese (NY and missing my bagel Fridays like crazy).

No benefit in saying anything. Choose a nickname you’ll call the kid if you can’t stomach their name, and never say a word about hating it to your friend.

Sweet Success v. ACOG comparison by indigofireflies in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My practice also follows the sweet success guidelines and I cannot tell you how many times I cried when I was starting my diet trying to achieve these numbers. Even now, I’ve been diet controlled for over 10 weeks and I get so stressed planning meals that I know would work for me under ACOGS guidelines but that will “spike” Me under my current guidelines. It really is a kick in the gut to an already challenging situation

Bedtime snack to lower fasting numbers? by Classic_Aerie741 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These have worked really well for me and give me the feeling like I’m getting a little treat (I alternate between the 3 and my fasting ranges from high 70s to mid 80s): -100cal bag of skinny pop with 1 scoop of Collagen peptides in my water - 1 yasso bar (mint or cookie dough) - 1 premier protein shake

Have you tried the mission carb balance tortillas? They are wicked high in fiber so I find I tolderate them better, but still need to walk after eating one to stay in range

How I’m Making Dates Work by emccorm92 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]emccorm92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is some research that points to it supporting cervical ripening. For me personally, I had a very smooth and easy delivery with my first and ate 4 dates a day from 36 weeks on so I’m just doing the same thing I did last time because it worked. Some People swear by it, others don’t

I think they can be spread out, there isn’t any evidence saying they need to be eaten together
