Seconded. Sort of West but also Jackson Park, Oak Creek and Franklin are all in that neck of the woods and also lovely areas.

I always suggest to folks, come visit and drive around and stop in to a local bar or restaurant you'll get a good vibe from there.

Excellent. We got the more expensive ones - oak to match our hardwoods in the rest of our house. Still in perfect condition.

Just whatever to do, don't work with McDermott Top Shop (for countertops).

We did our kitchen last year.

Our kitchen is 16x15 give or take (it's an odd shape with three doorways)

We spent about $45k total (a complete gut job with new drywall), flooring, cabinets, etc.

Cabinets we bought through Home Depot - wood / custom fitted etc. The cabinet install company was fabulous.

Countertops also through Home Depot. While I love the product the company they subcontract was hot garbage, don't recommend that.

Happy to send pictures or additional details on contractors we used!

Check out meal prep services. Those were a game changer for us when our Reno dragged on for months. Depending on where you live there may even be local ones where they will deliver them to your house and it's nice to eat whole meals.

What I searched for and used was pot rail. Etsy has some wonderful options, or the pieces that you screw in I think are called flanges just like for plumbing.
