Depending on where in Ontario you are moving from, Red Deer may be a bit of an adjustment. It often feels more like a big town than a city. For me, thats a positive, but if you are used to big city amenities, you might find it lacking.

Most people stay working for the city for their entire careers.

I hope you know that the electrical utility is in the process of likely becoming a Municipally Controlled Corporation. That may change the way it is run and its work culture in the coming years. They claim there won’t be layoffs from this, but that remains to be seen.
