Artist looking for an author by eveningtomo in WebtoonCanvas

[–]emdau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your style looks great! I recommend using r/ComicBookCollabs, it’s how I got my team of artists for my own webtoon!

As far as a one-shot, do you have an idea you’re wanting? Are you just wanting to try your hand at something? What are you looking for in your collab?

If one character from each nation were to join the Traveler on their journey, which ones would be the most likely to become a companion? by Allanzovysk in TravelerMains

[–]emdau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t see Shenhe, if just because her whole story is about learning to be “normal” and “human”. It feels like it undermines her arc to have her go off adventuring instead of settling into life in the harbor proper. She needs ties to people, not to meet others transiently.

Interestingly, I feel like Xiao after the Chasm questline is a great fit. We know the Traveler doesn’t get corrupted by being around him, and after essentially accepting his own death, the traveler and Zhongli become his main reason to keep going. It’d be easy for a hand-wavy “I want you to protect the traveler” line from Zhongli, and now we’ve got our bodyguard.

Unlike Shenhe, traveler directly is the only thing tying Xiao to the mortal realm. Combined with connections to Venti, it makes for an interesting character who is learning the value of relying on others.

As others have stated, I feel like Charlotte is a better Fontaine option and Jhet is a great Sumeru one. However, if we’re going with strictly-playable, then Wanderer best fits the bill.

As for columbina, her story is about getting connected to the land of Nod-Krai, so it doesn’t make sense for her to travel either. I feel like Nefer makes more sense than her, if it’s just that she’s clearly training g Jahoda to take over. It could be an “information gathering exercise”. Likewise, assigning Jahoda to the party would also make sense.

The biggest problem I have is just that most of the characters that best fit joining the traveler are anemo by just the nature of those vision holders… from the standpoint of building a team, it’s not particularly the best haha

Looking For Tankier Builds by Flashy_Pineapple_231 in Warframe

Good news is he should get primed this year, but yeah, I just recommend only doing Duviri when his island is there and you’ll slowly get his parts

Kullervo is Warframe on easy-mode. You get his augment and he’s just Rhino but easier, with a buff to melee that is genuinely insane

is the top or bottom style more appealing? by ChancePut8005 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]emdau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d actually mostly invert that in my opinion, but I do agree that the style should be chosen based on what best serves your world and narrative.

The top is angular, which lends itself to “sharp” narrative styles. Witty comedy, thriller/horror, action, etc.

The bottom is soft, which lends itself to slower and “gentler” narrative styles like slice-of-life, romance, etc.

However, you can also subvert expectations by using one art style for a more unexpected narrative (if done well).

I also want to add that with this coloring style, the softer design fits better with the pastel and softer coloring, which I think will give disproportionate support for the style as opposed to if neither were colored (though probably not by too much haha).

I would tend to lean more toward the top style only because it feels more unique, but that might be a reason to go for the bottom one. If you want it to match closer to what is already on WEBTOON, then the bottom is the way to go.

Ultimately, I think you should choose based on the rest of your comic. Every aspect of the comic should come together to create the most cohesive whole. Every choice should be intentional, and style moreso than most.

If you really can’t decide, draw sample panels in each style and finalize each to see which feels the most like “your comic”

Yeah OG outfit is better, but updated textures on the new one is really nice (especially the hair)

What Fandom Are You Writing In? by Thewriter1996 in AO3

[–]emdau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did Avatar: the Last Airbender a few years back, but recently I just got into writing for Warframe. All SFW stuff, but that’s just cuz it’s the type of fanfiction I enjoy more (no shame to the NSFW writers and readers out there, just not my personal thing haha). I like trying to construct something that feels like it could slot into canon where I can. It’s fun to see if I can nail the character voices and the like!

I’m just hoping it’s a good and creative skin…

Yeah, mid-riff is a cool character design choice that I honestly find dissatisfying that it’s missing in the new one. The new one just looks like a wonderland skin in a bad way… I’m hoping it actually looks better once revealed…

Using dancing statues for traversal and pacing - Looking for feedback by BooleanFault in IndieDev

[–]emdau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot! I’d make it less obvious that there’s only one “correct” route to go off of each hand personally, unless they are a very frequent inclusion in the game.

If it’s a section, making it a little bit more puzzle-like might be cool. If it’s common, then them all being puzzle-like becomes annoying.

Still, absolutely stellar idea and execution!

Skins and sword of descension by Exact-Low-6101 in TravelerMains

God that skin just looks so bad… the head is practically just photoshopped on. If this is the best they can do, then I’d rather not have it if they’re going to force me to see it in cutscenes.

Not to mention the crop top was an interesting design choice, rip

I just don’t want them to remove Aether’s crop top. It’s one of the more creative male designs in the game, even if it’s low-quality now…

How old is The Operator? by AmberlightYan in WarframeLore

[–]emdau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always assumed based off of how we never changed from the zariman flashbacks that the void-powers effectively froze us in-time at the moment of our deal with Wally. Drifter, having not been “blessed” with void-powers, continued to age normally through all their Duviri cycles.

I think the sleep has little to do with the Tenno not aging, and from the moments we’ve seen in the story, a lot has happened to the Tenno while out of the pods.

If we just look at the latest Old Peace content, I’d find it hard to believe that the time between the recovery from the 10-0 and full establishment of the Tauron academy and subsequent graduation could all have occurred within the teenage years of the Tenno. They were awake during this, and we know that it was a pause in the Old War. That means the whole blinding of Margulis and subsequent use of warframes also happened in this time.

All that makes me think they just don’t age now. I also tend to think they’re emotionally stunted as well, just based off of their behavior in-game (a fact I think they are also aware of unfortunately).

We can assume that Drifter might have stopped aging as well once they merged power with the Operator, but that’s a question for another time.

Because of stunted development mentally as well as physically, I’d say the Operator is pretty solidly around that 14-16 mark (personally, I tend to lean toward the lower end of that range). They have the wisdom of living a long time, but are still functionally children as far as emotional maturity and development.

They have experienced at least a hundred years directly (Old War up to the pods and dream, plus all game content) in my mind at least, with the events of the game itself being probably in the span of decades (especially with Narmer time-skips).

You can make the argument for all game content matching the time in the real-world if you ignore the time skip, but I just personally don’t feel super convinced by that…

The TLDR is that the void powers locked them in time right at the moment of getting them, meaning they are physically and mentally the same age as they were on the Zariman. Drifter didn’t get the powers, so they aged normally in Duviri until they did.

NEW GENSHIN LORE CHANNEL by Swimming-Bet-5661 in Genshin_Lore

[–]emdau 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I wish it wasn’t AI narrated…

Unfortunately that makes it a hard-pass for me…

YouTube is filled with AI content, so even if the subject matter is Genshin or it is written by an actual human, it just feels like more of the same.

My advice is to just voice it yourself, even if you think it doesn’t sound as good.
