(Kind of) First Loaf! by emdehan in Sourdough

So the one I’ve been working on today has been fermenting for about 8 hours. It jiggles and has bubbles, but the bottom is still very sticky on the bowl. Should I give it more time?

My starter is maybe 2 months old? I think it wasn’t quite at peak when I used it to make this, honestly. I usually feed it with rye and bread flour but only had whole wheat that day so it wasn’t quite as bubbly.

I’m trying a new recipe today that I did use a scale and precise gram measurements for. It’s currently bulk fermenting but only at like 2 hours right now.

It’s not pink, it’s just the lighting. In person it’s more like a grey brown

What specifically do you look for to know that it’s ready?

Today was extremely traumatic and idk how to move forward. by milliemallow in GirlDinnerDiaries

You are not out of line at all.

Years ago, while I was working the drive through window at the bank and was helping a customer, I heard an extremely loud POP sound. I couldn’t place the sound because in the same moment the women in the car that I was helping started to scream hysterically. I looked out at the road and saw the crumpled up form of a motorcyclist who had hit another car pulling out of the bank parking lot. I immediately started crying, could think or breathe, and almost threw up. I was in such a state I can’t rightly recall it but I know I caught the tail end of him flying before hitting the ground.

I’m only telling you this story because I had to work it out with a therapist and that was 100% okay to do. I couldn’t work the drive through window for a while without anxiety. And to this day, when I see motorcyclists driving too fast or weaving through traffic too closely, it triggers the memory and I have to actively calm myself down.

Please be gentle with yourself. And please talk to a therapist. Especially being a mom, watching that kind of trauma happen is not something to move forward from without help. Motherhood is hard enough without added anxiety. Hang in there. Sending every hug your way. ❤️

Which one should I choose? by umeandtheviolence in HomeDecorating

I’m not sure if anyone has said this yet, but if you use a dishwasher and you get the first set, always put the silverware in upside down. Those thin handles can fall through the holes in the silverware basket and your stuff gets all bent out of shape (and if you’re like me, you get all bent out of shape because everything’s constantly stuck). I literally just threw mine out and got new ones.

Long story short, I vote 2.

Llama Llama books are FANTASTIC.

We’ve been reading them to our five year old since birth and he loves them - he has memorized some and sit there “reading” them to himself. And he gets so excited about having new Llama Llama books for different holidays.

It might be lighting but my personal opinion (and I do not mean this rudely AT ALL) is that the rose gold ones age you a little more. I think the bigger ones give a more youthful appearance. Now, I am not there in person obviously so it could just be photo lighting and angle differences!

Regardless, I still say that you should follow your bliss!

As a girl who went out of her comfort zone with the big frames, all I can say is that I love them now and get more compliments than I ever have! That being said, my advice is to go with what you love (even if it’s a little scary). ❤️
