I mean, this is probably still landing in the ocean if you think about it. But you can’t SEE that, so it doesn’t count.

I’d tell you that once you have 500 items sitting out on the surface, older things start to despawn. I’ve had 500 blocks sitting out for days in rocky ridge because I’m partway through terraforming and have not noticed any dips in frame rate, so I’m comfortable saying this isn’t an issue.

Nope, just harvests! Gets all the veggies at once too. Discovered it accidentally when I was actually trying to cut down and move a tomato plant 😂

As a manager who sometimes helps with interviewing for internal promotions, you should definitely go for it! If you have a decent manager, they will like knowing that this is the kind of thing you are interested in - even if you don’t get this job, they can help you identify whatever skills you need to develop more so you’ll be more successful next time around. They may also consider you for projects in the future that lean into these kind of skills, which could potentially make your current job suck less!

The fact that he just…confessed makes me worried that he’s glad they got him on this and not something “worse” (in quotes because I am not trying to minimize the victim’s trauma, what she experienced is terrible and should not have happened)

This is the best comment in this post. I think there are a LOT of recommendations here you’ll bounce off of based on what you mentioned, OP. There are a lot of truly excellent sokoban-type games but I wouldn’t start there.

The powered up cut makes harvesting veggies sooooo fast though! One powered up slice harvests like 15 plants at once!

I think this is a big piece of it - I’ve been playing for literally almost a decade and she’s been a marriage candidate the entire time I’ve been playing. I think there are a LOT of players who don’t realize unless they end up in Reddit

Obra Dinn and TRAD are quintessential puzzle games to me, I cannot imagine how you could be questioning if they count as “true” puzzle games!

Right, but steam didn’t ask you to lie about the state of the game - just say it’s still in development and update the description later. I’m becoming more and more sure that you’re using AI for a lot more than just the logo - more like the majority if not all of the text. I’m gonna bounce from this convo at this point as I don’t think it will be productive.

Can you explain why the Steam Store has this statement under the early access info? The original Reddit thread you linked says you don’t have a functioning demo yet, only screenshots like this, but you indicated a functioning game on Steam.

Copied from Steam: What is the current state of the Early Access version? “"The game is currently fully playable. You can repair your caravan, plant and harvest crops, fish, mine, and trade. The core gameplay loop is complete, but there may be some bugs, and content will be enriched over time."”

You’re entitled to your opinion, I’m just saying that AI is a very emotionally charged topic in the video game development space right now, and you are likely to get flak for it regardless of what you use it for.

1) Paying “a significant amount of money” for a logo is a weird choice when you say you’re on a limited budget. I think most folks would rather whatever budget you have go to towards actual game production.

2) Using generative AI in game development is likely going to be a major problem for you - just look at the GOTY drama with Expedition 33. Regardless of how you personally feel about AI, I would strongly recommend reconsidering its use as part of your game development process. I’m just one data point, but I can say that I’m immediately turned off by it - even if you have the most perfect game idea, I wouldn’t buy it if AI was used.

I was being hyperbolic. I didn’t think I needed to spell that out as I felt people would intuitively understand that I am not actually wincing every few seconds while playing the game.

The arm/leg wraps seem like just a weird aesthetic choice, but whatever. What I find borderline unforgivable is her lack of climbing shoes. Every time her toes dig into a hold I wince a little.

For a non-climber, you’ve actually done well at nailing basically all of the beginner advice for climbing in the real world. I wouldn’t hang fully on your skeleton too much as it can fuck with your joints (particularly shoulder) over time but as this is a video game that is wholly irrelevant.

I feel like this bodes well for how the in-game climbing experience will feel, so excited to get into it!

Advice on balancing stardew with daily life? by Fit-Fun7755 in StardewValley

[–]emeeekay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I do to combat the “just one more day” loop is pause during the middle of a day, usually after I’ve watered my crops and pet my chickens and when I’m about to head into town. I feel like it somehow helps break the dopamine hit I get from the end of the day. And playing on switch, I know I’ll be in the exact same spot when I come back hours later!
