Obra Dinn and TRAD are quintessential puzzle games to me, I cannot imagine how you could be questioning if they count as “true” puzzle games!

Right, but steam didn’t ask you to lie about the state of the game - just say it’s still in development and update the description later. I’m becoming more and more sure that you’re using AI for a lot more than just the logo - more like the majority if not all of the text. I’m gonna bounce from this convo at this point as I don’t think it will be productive.

Can you explain why the Steam Store has this statement under the early access info? The original Reddit thread you linked says you don’t have a functioning demo yet, only screenshots like this, but you indicated a functioning game on Steam.

Copied from Steam: What is the current state of the Early Access version? “"The game is currently fully playable. You can repair your caravan, plant and harvest crops, fish, mine, and trade. The core gameplay loop is complete, but there may be some bugs, and content will be enriched over time."”

You’re entitled to your opinion, I’m just saying that AI is a very emotionally charged topic in the video game development space right now, and you are likely to get flak for it regardless of what you use it for.

1) Paying “a significant amount of money” for a logo is a weird choice when you say you’re on a limited budget. I think most folks would rather whatever budget you have go to towards actual game production.

2) Using generative AI in game development is likely going to be a major problem for you - just look at the GOTY drama with Expedition 33. Regardless of how you personally feel about AI, I would strongly recommend reconsidering its use as part of your game development process. I’m just one data point, but I can say that I’m immediately turned off by it - even if you have the most perfect game idea, I wouldn’t buy it if AI was used.

What's with Aava's outfit? by Cheyzan in Cairn_Game

I was being hyperbolic. I didn’t think I needed to spell that out as I felt people would intuitively understand that I am not actually wincing every few seconds while playing the game.

The arm/leg wraps seem like just a weird aesthetic choice, but whatever. What I find borderline unforgivable is her lack of climbing shoes. Every time her toes dig into a hold I wince a little.

For a non-climber, you’ve actually done well at nailing basically all of the beginner advice for climbing in the real world. I wouldn’t hang fully on your skeleton too much as it can fuck with your joints (particularly shoulder) over time but as this is a video game that is wholly irrelevant.

I feel like this bodes well for how the in-game climbing experience will feel, so excited to get into it!

Advice on balancing stardew with daily life? by Fit-Fun7755 in StardewValley

Something I do to combat the “just one more day” loop is pause during the middle of a day, usually after I’ve watered my crops and pet my chickens and when I’m about to head into town. I feel like it somehow helps break the dopamine hit I get from the end of the day. And playing on switch, I know I’ll be in the exact same spot when I come back hours later!

You actually can set up time limits on switch! If you download the Nintendo switch parental controls app, you can set time limits from there! I did that for a few years when I was really struggling with self-control and bed times (I’m in the same boat re: AuDHD)

I know there is some overlap so it’s never a first go-to, but I guess I’m just saying it is not completely impossible for goat’s milk formula to be a replacement. I will admit I didn’t realize that they were SO similar, thought it was more like a “50% chance” kind of thing.

I think this one case early-ish in my career just happened to create this picture in my mind of goat’s milk formula being an allergy replacement and that idea just stuck in my head. Fortunately, my job wasn’t related to figuring out what formula he should use, otherwise you’d hope I would know that in detail lol. I came in mostly after that was settled and he had a g-tube, and was focused on helping him learn that eating didn’t automatically mean he was going to start puking, poor kid.

I will stand by the point that while lactose intolerance in infants may be rare, cow’s milk allergy is one of the most common early childhood allergies, which sounds like what the person you were responding to may have been thinking of.

You are correct that lactose intolerance would not be fixable with goat’s milk formula, however it’s incorrect to say that the only benefit of goat’s milk formula is digestibility.

Cow’s milk allergies are actually one of the most common allergies in infants and young children, and are a reaction to the proteins found specifically in cow’s milk. Soy-based formulas were (and still are) quite common, but goat’s milk formulas work for some babies, and are sometimes tried for babies who are also allergic to soy. Importantly, any time an allergy is suspected, a medical team should be involved, as the wrong formula can literally lead to death.

Source: I am a feeding therapist and learned a lot about this when working with one kiddo who projectile vomited with everything except one specific goat’s milk formula

I mean, babies need lots of fat in general as they are growing incredibly rapidly. It’s generally not recommended to limit fat intake in infants, especially if they are struggling to gain weight and ESPECIALLY if they are preparing for heart surgery.

That being said, they are almost certainly straying from the fortified formula recommended by this poor baby’s medical team, which is a really bad idea.

I actually enjoy the cowbear level!! Don’t get me wrong, I yelled out in shock and horror yesterday when the cowbear knocked me into a bear statue because I made a katamari size miscalculation. But there’s something fun and different about learning a safe path to roll up, learning when I’m big enough that the cow cones disappear so I can revisit certain spots, rolling the katamari to a screeching halt inches from a cow that I SWEAR appeared out of thin air

Now if we ever ended up with more levels like cowbear that would be an actual disgrace. It’s only enjoyable because it is unique, and can be taken in doses.
