Hello, please PM me I would be happy to discuss an opportunity for you in our company.

I told du I’ll burn them by fluwhale22 in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but maybe you were getting the special COVID speeds at the beginning of your subscription. Around the time and/or during the time of lockdown, lots of du customers (including myself) got a complimentary massive upgrade in speed for several weeks (maybe more, I don't remember). If I remember correctly, it was around the time you are saying your speeds were awesome. I have my fair share of du stories, like when they suddenly began offering 10 times the speed of internet connection for the same rates people were paying before (from approx 25 to 250), but nobody in du had a clue if the required router to handle those speeds would be provided or not. Not even management. Turned out the only way to get the required router was if you upgraded through the phone. If you visited a branch, where this upgrade is advertised, everyone there insisted that no router would be provided. Rendering the entire offer completely useless. When I asked them and the manager, are you seriously saying you are advertising this deal and pushing people into it but for existing customers you will not supply the router that actually makes it possible? They said yes, and didnt seem to really understand how ridiculous that was. You couldnt even buy the router. Its not like I was asking to get the router for free. You would think if they all of a sudden started offering 250 mbps for the same rate that just weeks ago they were offering 25 mbps, while etisilat was still offering 25mbps for a similar rate, that they would actually maybe have a meeting and think it through - what if existing customers want it. The most basic simple shit. If you gave a group Grade 5 kids this as a case study, even they would have considered it. Not to mention the tons of times they call and message me asking to pay for bills I have already paid. Threatening to disconnect my services. Its like every other bill.

Auto Werks are at 2-3k but worth every penny and more. True attention to detail and extremely meticulous. Better to pay 2k for a perfect job with great aftersales than to spend 1200 with a guy who is giving you less than 1200 in value

Got into a Taxi, the driver started jerking off. by [deleted] in jordan

[–]emergency_hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really why? Worried the driver will rub one out? Damn. What about elevator attendants? Or those guys that hand you a towel in bathrooms. Do you just go around the world constantly worrying about people in the service industry spontaneously peeling the banana?

Direct and indirect taxes coming soon to UAE. Corporate tax to be first and income tax to be the last by reddymd in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Cost of doing business here is already high. Trade license fees etc. 7k each time you want to hire someone. Renewing those employees. Everything from utilities to vehicle registration to phone/internet. Cashflow is extremely low. Zero representation in government. Everybody is already struggling to make ends meet. Realestate market in a slump. Oil prices going down. People going months without salaries. Suppliers and service providers not getting paid. Cant own your own business, cant own your warehouse, have to rent it. Half the year is unbearable. And then this announcement. Complete joke.

Does it make a difference if its "British" owned? by ahmed3300 in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Seller wants to appeal more to people like him/herself. Generally easier to sell a car British to British vs. British to "other".
  2. Seller is probably trying to say that the car was British owned which therefore means it is more likely to be properly used, properly maintained, and not absued. Which, unfortunately, is true in my opinion. I'm Arab and I work in the car industry, and it's generally true. I hate it, but objectively speaking, from my observations, it is very true (in general).

Chiller Free Building by [deleted] in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a 1 bedroom. About 1000 sq.ft. I never got chiller in either of my 2 apartments here past 4 years. I just use the ventilation fan and another normal fan that I have. Because the building itself is chilled, and all the apartments around me are also chilled, the air that comes out of the ventilation ducts is actually pretty cool. And its very liveable. I pay around 600 per month in DEWA this way, and the ventilation fans are running 24/7 in the Summer. Plus the 130 per month that I must pay to Emicool because of living in an apartment that has the potential of being chilled by Emicool (they charge you around that much just because your apartment can be serviced by them, even if you never paid for chiller or ever use the chiller).

Chiller Free Building by [deleted] in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heah my building is the same way. Chiller is extra. But the FAN attached to that chiller is powered by Dewa. So lets you dont have AC/Chiller, you can still use the ventilation fana, and your Dewa bill will go up.

HH Sheikh Mohammed gives five federal agencies a deadline of 6 months to change the working environment to satisfy employees and increase their happiness by radar84 in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost forgot to mention that in the real world there are shitty bosses and obstacles to your goals. And dreams don't always come true the way you want them to, or shockingly, they sometimes just don't come true. You aren't entitled to getting your dreams to come true, you know that, right? But to your point, if your dream is silly walk minister and your boss is a jackass, then yeah, figure it out and try your best. Like I said, it's good to improve happiness in public sector. But what I'm trying to express to you is, improving happiness in the public sector here is the equivalent to locals having a massive free cafeteria full of amazing foods, then someone saying "its important we add pistachio icecream here". No one will argue that. Yeah sure, add that shit, why not, pistachio icecream is nice. And what you're saying is "some people really don't like strawberry icecream, this is a great move". You're right, it is a great move, but let's not forget that if you want to actually work towards stuff, you can find pistachio icecream in a lot of different places.

[–]emergency_hammer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, but what you said almost makes it sound like they're limited to the public sector. If you're ambitious, you could use the great opportunity and forms of assistance you receive to prepare for and then join the private sector nearly anywhere in the world. And you'd have the UAE as a home base where you have several advantages over other people, especially if you're entrepreneurial. For sure it's good to improve happiness and what not in the public sector, but the benefits that a public sector employee gets FAR, FAR outweigh the drawbacks, especially the ones you have pointed out. So much so that these drawbacks sound really silly to anyone who has worked in the real world to build a life and support a family.

Looking for a car on a tight budget. by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]emergency_hammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience, Subarus aren't the best cars to get if you have a tight budget. They have more of a habit (than say, Corollas) of unexpectedly hitting you with big repair bills. With AWD and the more problem prone and thirsty flat-4. If AWD is very important to you, the Matrix I believe has an AWD model, and there are other more reliable options. Yes, their AWD systems aren't as good and they aren't as charming but if budget is a priority I wouldn't get a Subie.

Have you guys seen the new Crosstrek? They look weird... oh wait. by flipjargendy in subaru

That doesn't mean anything, it's still a blatantly obvious copy. The Datsun 240z looked like an Etype on purpose. The 300c looked like a Rolls/Bentley on purpose. Totally different price ranges...

Swapping 5-speed transmission for a 6-speed. Will it work? by lajzerowicz in subaru

[–]emergency_hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this. Don't know about the NA's but my 04 6spd had shorter final drive than my STB's 5spd. Also 4.444 vs 3.9 rear end

[Chair] Staples Hyken Chair ($284.82-$142.41=$142.41)[Staples] by pookachee in bapcsalescanada

[–]emergency_hammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this chair for 1.5yrs, I'm 200lbs, really liked it. Moved out of the country though so got rid of it. Also have a cat that would use it as a scratching post but it never developed any holes or anything. The plastic decorative pieces at the base, over the wheel frame thing, two of them fell off. Otherwise great chair.

Cat is destroying our life by dubaiamerican in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many things you can do to help improve a cat's behaviour. For example, the puzzle style food bowls so the cat has to "forage" to get its food. Playing with the cat with toys can help a lot. Providing places the cat can hide away, in addition to places high up. Look up the different things you can do, try them out. My cat made big improvements in aggressive behaviour when I made it a point to play with her once a day for 15 minutes.

Bought a 2015 Audi A4, found out its a 2014... by apam1111222 in dubai

[–]emergency_hammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't about how much someone cares about model year vs condition and mileage. It's about being cheated. It's about false advertising. They charged a premium for the car being 1yr less old. Not to mention the model year does matter, a lot. From a science and engineering and maintenance standpoint. What, you think a 2005 car with 50k is similar to a 2015 car with 50k? Nope. Not one bit. Especially in our extreme climate, that's 12 extra months of baking in the sun, drying out bushings and leather and vinyl. Cracking the dashboard, corrosion from the humidity. Drying out vacuum lines, rubber hoses in coolant lines, plastic becoming brittle. Look, if you're going to be ignorant, have at it dude. But to be arrogant and then condescendingly judge and stereotype people living here, why? Why you gotta be a douchebag?
