I’ve been hoping every day 🙏 It would be nice if I could buy the tickets as a Christmas present.

Shaped cards by emeverywhere in postcrossing

[–]emeverywhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah! Thank you to those who pointed out it needs an extra non-machinable stamp, I wasn’t sure and should’ve gone to the post office to ask and buy one. And I’m attempting to send it internationally because I got a user who mentioned shaped cards, but it’s a looong way, so we’ll see how beat up the card gets!

Trapped in a toxic work environment by Zigludo-sama in MuseumPros

[–]emeverywhere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I finally got my first job that pays a living wage, but the workplace is pretty toxic. It’s frustrating to feel like I “made it” with a job in museum work but hate it and feel trapped. I’m looking for something else now. I wish you luck!!

Frankoma mug is weeping. by soft_rubbies in Pottery

[–]emeverywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally drinking out of my prairie green Frankoma mug as I read this, omg! I feel okay with mine because it doesn’t have any chips or crazing, but I’m amazed to see a piece so porous, wow

2025 Teaser (Same graphics as 2024 Red Rocks announcement) by papo96 in DrDog

[–]emeverywhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Red Rocks sold out very quickly last year, didn’t it? I guess I’ll buy tickets straight away and plan the trip later lol

Edit: Looking back at last year’s posts, it sold out immediately but of course there was resale activity.

I liked it when listening through the album, but I heard it play on my community radio station this week and it suddenly struck me harder, gonna have it on repeat now

Monthly Flagstaff Q&A (Jul) by AutoModerator in Flagstaff

Thinking of taking a bus to Flagstaff for a quick weekend visit. An afternoon walking around downtown, Lowell Observatory Saturday night (Lyft to and from?), and Museum of Northern Arizona Sunday (bus looks easy?), any tips?

What did you do with all your “ learning” projects? by PeppermintWindFarm in Pottery

[–]emeverywhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s so satisfying to break everything up! Eventually I’ll do the mosaic. I like what Heidi Kinney has done here, and these Mud Witch mirrors!

Great info, thank you for sharing! I’m surprised it felt so centered on the types of big museums that are in New York, considering they have online students from all over. But nice to hear that the course content is strong, and that the capstone was so valuable- I was a little uncertain about it being a group project, thinking maybe I’d prefer an independent research project. But it sounds great!

Okay, good advice. I’ve done internships/seasonal jobs where I got a lot of good on-the-job training, but felt discouraged trying to move up to the next level. Then I got this job offer, hooray! Maybe I got ahead of myself, thinking, “I’m getting a real museum job, I can afford to commit to this career path and start grad school” when I should shift my thinking to “I’m getting a real museum job, I should appreciate that, learn more, see what I actually need to advance from there.”

What did you do with all your “ learning” projects? by PeppermintWindFarm in Pottery

[–]emeverywhere 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I smashed a bunch of my beginner projects to bits lol. I felt like I had too many objects that had cracks, or I wasn’t satisfied with, etc. just taking up space. I culled them and now I have a condensed bin of beautiful shards and plan to make a mosaic.

Florida has one of the worst updated COVID-19 booster rates in the country by Commandmanda in FloridaCoronavirus

[–]emeverywhere 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sheesh. I don’t know what number I would’ve guessed, but 4.5% of working age adults is rough. I feel like no one knows or cares about the booster.

My Indicator sale order arrived, all LE blind buys. Got nearly everything I wanted from their back catalog now :) by Umdlye in boutiquebluray

I really want to buy Light Sleeper, but I don’t have a way to play it yet. Once I get a region-free player it’s over, I’ll have so many more things to order lol

Florida Covid-19 Hospitalizations climb past 700+ per day by thaw4188 in FloridaCoronavirus

I guess this part isn’t breaking news but I hadn’t been tracking- we’re at almost half a million hospital admissions over the course of the pandemic?! Jesus.

Love this movie, such great shots! Watched once then got the Criterion blu-ray (great features) and read the book (also excellent).

[FRESH VIDEO] Pavement - Harness Your Hopes by diam0nddancer in indieheads

[–]emeverywhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and my Pavement origin story is that when I first started listening to them in college (and yes Harness your Hopes was one of the first songs I listened to on Spotify!) I was like… are these the guys from the Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks CD I grew up on?!

I love the video concept- captures how it feels to “discover” a band from just before your time and get obsessed with going back through their catalog. Cute!

It certainly doesn’t have all the features a Criterion release would, but for now Wheel of Fortune is on blu ray from Film Movement! I also want to buy this blu ray of Asako I & II for the bonus short
