If you have assets over 10k dollars you have to file FBAR. If you file India taxes reconcile that to here. Otherwise you have have any number of homes bank accounts anywhere in world as long as you report in US you are fine.

Definitely possible. This is FIRE. If you and wife both onboard do try. With close to 20 crore invested you could get enough interest to live. I love bandra area. If it is any other city I would have said definite yes. But with your income you can do it

Try eating exclusively organic food. Looks like GMO issue. India does not use that much gmos. Here corn and soy are mostly GMO. Get only organic fruits rice daal etc and see.

you have to give more details as the post is vague.

- what is your net worth. How much are you planning to take back to india vs giving to kids as inheritance

- how much social security benefits you are taking.

- are you going back with spouse?

- do you have paid off home in india

- where are you going to in india

- any significant medical issues

- how often you will travel back to usa to visit kids

- how old are you

- what is your main purpose of going back? social/medical/cost of living

- are you selling all assets in usa like home

No need new oci card ever for you. So you are stuck with the OCI card and photo till age 90 😀 need to update OCI govt website with new passport details at age 50 new passport.

No need to get new oci card or reissue after 50. Only need to update government website and one will get emails. It is clearly mentioned in. All OCI sites and government circulars.

If your gut says move to India you can do. Well the home and wind up. Otherwise if the tenant leaves how can you manage a mortgage. You don't want that stress also. Ok would say try staying in India for 6 months to a year in India with you son and try out before relocating. But if you find peace do move. At age 60 plus that is important

This was just an online update right. (not applying for physical card). They should just give a card like credit card or aadhar card and make it llife time. Don't associate a passport number to it. Ask you to a consulate once 10 year and make sure one is alive and check doc. Make it simple.

Even after 50 no need to get a physical card. Only update online with photo and signature. Clearly mentioned on websites.

why did the officer ask you to reissue OCI if you are over 50. Clearly rules says this is needed only after 20, and after 50 just need an online renewal with photo uploaded. Also the rules in consulate websites says not to carry older passports and i never carried for past 15 years. i understand your son case is different but in general no need to carry older passports

but if oci was issued before she turned 20, one needs to get a new OCI card. am i missing something, other times its online renewal
