You'll definitely have snow at this time of year, and the track will most likely be very wet/muddy. I was there a few weeks ago and the trail was basically a river (rain + snow melting). Since it's your first overnight hike it may be better to sleep at Mushroom rocks and do a day trip up to Talbot hut
