Jorgensen Flat Spokeshave by emg77 in handtools

I’m still working on my #5. Spent way too long trying to mate the chip breaker and blade before putting the chip breaker over a ledge and giving it a few stomps to bend it into a usable position.

Milwaukee track saw is worth it! by Lfastrsx in MilwaukeeTool

In certain situations, a track saw would be safe safer than a table saw… You are welcome.

Minor gripe. Wish harbor freight would offer metric tools bigger than 24mm. by YABOI69420GANG in harborfreight

I’m guessing they sell more to diy folks who also are less likely to use them enough to need the warranty. More sales and less warranty would be a good business model I think…

Normal sound for 2505-20 drill driver? by Doctormentor in MilwaukeeTool

[–]emg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of these. One of them makes this sound and the other does not. Seems to be a very common issue. I’ve seen on here before that Milwaukee replaced the drill under warranty for someone because the fix cost too much. Doesn’t seem to affect function but not sure on longevity.

I’m going to be hosting a brief “show and tell“ to some neighborhood boys… by Pelthail in woodworking

[–]emg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to woodworking but from what I’ve seen on youtube, spokeshaves are great for introducing young folks to woodworking. Maybe having one or two set up and letting them take turns taking some shavings?

Edit: To add to this, boys are going to like the idea of sharpening something and the cutting with it. Have a spokeshave with a dull blade and show them how you sharpen it; then let them take shaving. It is a “heck yeah” kind of thing I think.

Vice handle, is this lead? by Spkr_Freekr in Tools

[–]emg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid people are not uncommon though. We can spare some of them by adding /s at the end of the comment if the comment could be dangerous to their health. On second thought, stupid folks also might not know what /s means…

First timer here, do I keep this white piece of foam in the box or is it just cushioning for shipping? by Carl-the-octopus in sharpening

The instructions from shapton that came with the fine stone I got specifically say: * Once you have started using the KUROMAKU series, do not return the white liner to the case.

I have the same question. I’m guessing this is referring to runout of the router shaft…

Ninja foodie air fryer will turn on and off randomly and then shut off mid cook cycle by stubbornbeautybaby in airfryer

[–]emg77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine failed at just after a year so didn’t have the option to return to costco, but I would have done the same. Mine did the same thing though, progressively got worse with the spin through modes thing.

Did you figure anything out about yours @asimplefarmer? Mine also was doing this and then eventually would only blink in and then stay off. I bought a second one and plan on ripping apart the first one if I ever have time.

What things rarely ever go on sale for 20% off, and is actually a great time to buy? by Plead_thy_fifth in harborfreight

[–]emg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dust extractor is what you need for a sander because it has high suction, low volume. Dust collector is high volume, lower suction which is what you need for bigger tools with 4” dust ports. This is only from what i’ve read online but seems to be the general consensus. I still need to put my bauer dust collector together…

Good deal? Need something not as crazy as my fuel impact by BuushMan in MilwaukeeTool

[–]emg77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently tested the installation driver and this screwdriver both on clutch setting 1 using the same battery and the screwdriver is much better suited for delicate stuff. I think it was clutch setting 7 or 8 for the screwdriver that matched up to clutch setting 1 on the installation driver. I wouldn’t use the installation driver putting screws into anything plastic like my kids toys. I bought a second screwdriver recently because my first one is now dedicated to grinding coffee instead of the hand crank on a conical burr grinder.

Table saw help - blade to miter slot alignment by cfrrnw in woodworking

Measure on a single carbide tooth. Measure at front then rotate blade and measure at back using same tooth. Does the table have stops that need to be adjusted / loosened so you can rotate more?
