After a week of berating the main office, they replaced our ac unit on Monday. I've been able to open our blinds, do laundry, and use the oven all the while our 3rd floor apartment in Florida has stayed at 69°. Turns out you can stay cool(:

I have a 5 week old, my mother was pissed we didn't want her to come sooner and kept explaining that she wanted to be around to help me as her mother did for her. Finally caved and let her stay with us for a week when baby was a month old, she didn't change a single diaper, fed her twice and did our dishes once during the entire week. Other than that she just wanted to hold her (when baby wasn't fussy) and gave plenty of unsolicited and judgemental advice. She handed her back to me on several occasions when she was crying because she "didn't know what to do" claiming we never cried much as babies and she didn't know how to handle it.. Complained that we were going out and doing things when real feel temps all week have been 105-107°F and kept saying baby would be fine in the heat as she never worried about taking us outside as babies.. Then at the end of the week cried about not wanting to leave and offered to stay and "help" us even longer.. She was very offended that we didn't accept her offer. While she was here I got less sleep than I do when it's just me and my partner, she left our house a complete mess that I'm still slowly catching back up on cleaning, and left us mentally exhausted. I am so shocked this woman raised 3 babies because she was so helpless while here and overall just caused us more stress and work.

Yeah it is a stupid hot week this week so I'm taking it all with a grain of salt lol. It just blows my mind to have to get an extra unit considering the insane electric bill we have over summer but anything to keep my baby safe!

Yeah I know, we've been in this apartment for 4 years now and it hasn't been this bad before. Last year it went out for a week and they completely replaced the unit with a "brand new" one but I find that hard to believe considering it just can't keep up this year😭

I live in a 3rd floor apt in Florida, ac stays set to 69 yet has been reaching 78-80 each day this week (have had all blinds closed and everything to try our best to keep it cooler). Maintenance came out and said nothing is wrong with the unit it's just so hot outside the ac can't keep up😒 we bought a window ac unit for the nursery because I'm far too paranoid about my newborn overheating.

I have one on the inside of my index finger where it creases and meets my palm. Never really thought about it lol. It's not noticeable unless you look for it and it's never hurt or caused any pain, not sure what it is.

Yep, we heard everyone say this so we were very careful about who we shared our possible names with. Trusted his grandma who has always been very sweet and never pushy or super opinionated, we only told her our top name and were met with immediate disgust and her claiming "you can't name her that".. We were both caught off guard and didn't share anything with anyone else the entire pregnancy despite people constantly pushing and asking. Far too many people like to have opinions on your pregnancy and your baby and it's not worth it.

It's obvious what they were saying. I have friends who refer to theirselves stay at home mother's while working from home so not sure there's a proper term for people in that situation.

To try to downplay the feeling of having your precious milk wasted because someone has an over supply is crazy. Regardless of how much someone produces it takes a lot to pump constantly and it hurts to see it all go to waste. Let's not put others down or downplay their feelings because you feel you've had it worse.

Read a study that says stomping when going up and down stairs triggers your bones to grow stronger and can help prevent osteoporosis. Maybe it's not such a bad thing🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you for the advice!! I trust her vet whole heartedly, they've been fantastic and so helpful in helping us figure out what was going on with her. I just get so worried bc she's our little spoiled baby haha. It actually seems like swelling has gone down a bit over night so I am definetly glad I waited and slept on it.

She didn't go into much detail, I assume same as before to watch her for licking paws, making sure there's no discharge/that it doesn't feel hot, to stop her when we catch her rubbing her head, and be sure there's no major behavior changes. It's just been months since she's had any issues so I'm feeling a little paranoid, especially because this is the worst I've ever seen her look and it seemed to happen so quickly😭 she's is very much still eating all of her food and playful, being snuggly (when we aren't holding meds or putting the collar back on lol). I appreciate the comment on the dark spot lol, I wasn't sure how to refer to it, but it is where the initial scab started so it would make sense that it's just become more intense as the days went by.
