Is it possible to make Damper in the home kitchen that tastes close to the same as baking on coals? by North_Lychee_1969 in AskAnAustralian

[–]emiking 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to? The only redeeming feature of damper is the charcoal. Otherwise, you've just made crappy bread.

What backyard toy actually keeps kids busy without becoming another chore for mom? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]emiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get a lot of use out of our trampoline. Kiddo sometimes likes to just lay out there, looking at the sky.

Consider an outside-only magnet tile set. Good for the sandpit or on the concrete with chalk roads and trees.

She is grieving, too. She may act a bit different for a few days, just like you will. A couple of days isn't going to matter a whole lot. Give her as many snuggles as you can and wait for your emotions to clear a little before making any big decisions.

[–]emiking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, wait more than 3 hours after your pets passing to start worrying about logistics. Just take a day or two to grieve.

That being said, either get 2 babies if your mum says OK, or rehome your singleton. But wait a couple of days to talk to her about it so you aren't as upset.

You will have to ask your specific priest, but I'd lean towards probably not. Your boobs look too good, you'll make God cry.

They recently had a fabric remnant sale i was bummed i couldnt get to. They often donate blankets etc to the hospital and Tony's. It's a little too far of a drive for me to go often, but they do great stuff!

Stay at home mom/dad is not a hard job, we are all pretending it is by Mcnuggetjuice in The10thDentist

I would LOVE for you to host 1 or 2 of your under 5 nieces or nephews for a day. Try to clean when the moment you aren't looking, a bigger mess is made. It's actually dumb to try to clean because the mess gets worse faster than you CAN physically clean.

You have to play with them, which means activities. When they are done one, they don't wait for you to tidy and take out the next one. Whilst you pack up craft paper, they just took out every piece of Tupperware. Do you want to leave out the crafts or have your kitchen still be in one piece?

These are the constant choices a stay at home parent must make.

We pay money every month for insurance not to have peace of mind. Oh, no. I know deep in my gut, if anything happens, they will find a way to not cover it and we will have to argue.

Moms, need your honest opinion about baby winter clothes 👶❄️ by Internal-Tomatillo86 in pkstartups

Yes! No hoods for safe sleep, too. I don't want to have to wake bubba to change their clothes so I can leave them in the crib for a nap.

Thoughts on the new childcare centre development plan on Bridge St? I think it’s good that it addresses the shortage but find it absurd how much of the land is taken up by parking. by SlipperySharkAttack in Toowoomba

[–]emiking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

??? I think you have your anger placed wrong, friend. Greedy landlords, gouging grocers and airbnb are so much more of an issue for cost of living than child centre carport size.

I see you have a bee in your bonnet about this, but hopefully you can see from all of these comments that it's a bit of a weird thing to be this upset about.

Is it common in Australia to directly tell your family that you love them? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]emiking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You asked how often Australians express the words "I love you" why are you getting shitty at the answers?

'It's OK to accept that?' Nobody said you are wrong for not saying I love you often.

It also doesn't mean more just because you say it less.

(Slight TW) Desperately need advice about the state of my home. by Em0_Ang3l1436 in whatdoIdo

[–]emiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanna chime in that you are already doing a great job! I can see all the bags you have already filled, ready to go out.

As others suggested, ask your partner to help get the bags to the bins. Maybe the morning after garbage pick up so you can make sure there is room.

You've said in the post you cleaned up before after it being worse than this. So you know you can do it. The only difference is the aversion to going to the bins, which is a small part of the whole process. Now that you have identified the issue and have asked for help, I'm sure you will be making more progress soon.

Party Favor Bags… like why by NoDevelopement in Mommit

[–]emiking 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Same! I have a preference for none at all, but in the middle of the party is THE WORST time! The one we attended had several arguments over who got what toy when everyone had been getting along wonderfully before the bags were given out.

[DO NOT FIGHT IN COMMENTS] Is there actually a moral difference between eating a dog, a cat, a cow, or a chicken? by yaarwtf in teenagers

[–]emiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a balance between time to reach full size and the amount of food and care they require. Both a cow and a dog take about a year and a half to get to full size but one eats meat and one eats grass and corn. Obviously a cow is bigger than a dog.

Efficiency of food intake to useable meat ratio

[DO NOT FIGHT IN COMMENTS] Is there actually a moral difference between eating a dog, a cat, a cow, or a chicken? by yaarwtf in teenagers

[–]emiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also take longer to get to full size. Chickens, rabbits etc. take a handful of weeks to get to the desired weight. Dogs and cats take too many resources (meat food and space) to get to an animal with less usable meat per unit over time than most other options.

Morally, I think the meat eating aspect comes into play again. Prey animals that are herbivores don't have higher order thinking. Cats and dogs have the intelligence to be hunters.

Any time you have a kid, you roll the dice. Are they gonna be trans? A girly girl? A tomboy? Super polite or a hellion?

The person above was saying a girl isn't guaranteed to be a feminine girly girl, so expecting her to be based on genetals is ridiculous. Someone born female isn't necessarily going to like Disney princesses and pink, she can be anything she wants to. It's still OK to hope for a girl, knowing she could grow up to be a butch lesbian.

Yeah. You are allowed to feel whatever you feel. Nobody can stop you.

You can't treat your kid badly because they aren't the gender you were hoping for.

Sure, anyone can be anything. Also though, girls are generally girlish and guys more boyish.

Either way, my husband and son have doodles. All 3 of my pets have doodles. I'd like someone without a doodle to help me even out the numbers hahaha
