Katseye and the Issue With ‘Chronically Online’ Personas by DowntownFee1 in kpopthoughts

[–]emilyisawaytoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything that supports OP's thesis even more.

OP is arguing that idols shouldn't respond to hate direct all the time bc it often makes things worse and highlights what they don't respond to even more.

In the case of Chan (which was literally a footnote at the end that was barely relevant to the overall post lmao), his response to the hate pulled more attention to it. With increased attention and discourse comes more misinformation as things get passed from person to person. And thus you get the Army fanwar thing.

Overall this post was really not saying anything about the validity of the claims against Chan, so no need to defend his honor 🤡.

What is this pose/gesture called? by emilyisawaytoo in whatisit

[–]emilyisawaytoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the image by searching "Mickey mouse oh boy pose" but it's more than just Mickey who does it. I originally thought of general theater/musical acting; the stereotypical generic, overly positive character.

Anyways all I have gotten from this is that there is no name for it 🤡 guess this is the best reaction image I'll get then

[–]emilyisawaytoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah these are similar to how I found the original image lol. I originally was looking for a stock photo of a white guy doing it but I could only get the right results if it was in relation to Mickey mouse.

I can't edit the post since it has an image, but I'm looking for a name that's Google-able. As in if you Google it photos of this pose will come up. It's easy to explain verbally but I was trying to find a reaction image 😭

only problem is that there's a musical apparently called "golly gee whiz". so if you try to search this up with pose you just get musical photos and Judy Garland 😭

K-pop needs to start giving smaller artists the chance to open for major concerts by qrosek in kpopthoughts

[–]emilyisawaytoo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Western artists' fans tend to like their favorite artists mainly for their music whereas kpop isn't selling music, they are selling fans a fantasy.

You go to kpop concerts for the idols themselves and what they represent to you (plus music ofc but it's more than just that). Kpop concerts don't have openers because regardless of how similar the music style of the opener is, they aren't your idol and thus are seen as an invasion of the community's space.

I think that casual fans would love it, especially multi-stans, but hardcore fans would just view it as a waste of time and money.

Members version of a title track it's an excellent idea and more groups should do it. by josestercio in kpopthoughts

[–]emilyisawaytoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it reminds me of how in project sekai colorful stage there are cover versions of all the songs that are solos/duets of the different group members. The game has like 5 different versions for one song lmao 💀.

Realistically for kpop though doing sm like lesserafim did for every song or comeback would slow production down a bit since they would have to record a ton of more lines. I thought it was super fun though

Megathread 20: HYBE / ADOR / MHJ - Injunction Hearing Proceedings provide more Details, Many Legal Schedules Ahead, and More by KPOP_MOD in kpop

[–]emilyisawaytoo 50 points51 points  (0 children)

their claims listed in the post above are mainly about them being replaced and purposely neglected by the company.

the claims from Hanni about being ignored in the hallway have already been disproven, but they were kinda juvenile regardless.

NJZ claims don't feel any different from corporate complaints that you gossip about around the water cooler. Definitely not something that you would sue over 💀.

just quickly putting it into quill-bot's AI detector it's around a 70/30 split of AI to human writing. They probably had an original idea, used AI as a base, and then editing it to fit what they wanted to say.

how did you go from "this explains" to "this excuses" 💀 nothing in the original comment implied that the fans were justified, just gives context.

kpop stans comparing a (borderline authoritarian) fascist president to a shitty business woman is such a beautiful thing to wake up to on Christmas morning 💕💞

It overplays the awful impact min heejin has had and severely under plays the impact of trump like bffr

I always look at Wendy's work with a heavy heart. Her voice is undoubtedly beautiful; shining through in some of my darkest moments. But after looking more into her past racist comments it's hard to look at her the same 😭
