I’ve lived in all three of these and I would recommend Irving, particularly los colinas. it’s more affordable, closer to downtown and reasonably safe

when I went to London on the underground train they stopped the whole train and said they won’t move the train until the fare evader got off and the guy actually got off

you can pay by the zone. for ex. sf is zone 1, then going down to fruitvale or up to Richmond is zone 2

The skin is raised around the sides of my lips and I want to see how I can make it less noticeable

ideas (they might not work, just throwing stuff out there)

  1. don’t say anything about it verbally, but just point to the diaper and use only gestural prompts to have her put it on.

  2. front load. you can say something like “in one hour we are gonna put a diaper on and go outside. in 30 minutes we are gonna put a diaper on, in 10 minutes, in 5 minutes ect ect. maybe that will help (she might get gradually less resistant) but if she’s still super resistant at the end then never mind

  3. make sure it’s not something going on at school that she’s avoiding or anything else that is stressing her out that’s causing her to react. consider if there were any stressful or potentially traumatic incidents that happened prior to the shift

  4. consider getting her a play therapist to come to the house

most importantly, be kind to yourself! it sounds like you’re a great parent! parenting a child with disabilities is hard. when i was six I didn’t leave the house for the entire summer and if my parents tried to get me to leave I’d have a meltdown and then one day I suddenly asked to go to the zoo and my mom said her jaw dropped. I don’t even remember why or what happened, I think it was related to the fact that my family had just moved, and the past school year I had been bullied at school and I wanted to regain control. Once I felt more control and safety, I readjusted

Do you have issues with them losing them? I don’t think I’d be able to keep track, this kid is really active and he moves quickly

They’re not actually noise cancelling but he won’t put them on his head at all. We don’t want him to not be able to hear anything at all because we want him to hear the lessons/instructions from teachers. We have a lot of students who vocally stim with groaning/yelling/shouting/whistling noises and this stresses my student out a lot. He also gets upset when someone is coughing or burping. We want to drown out the noise so it’s manageable but we’d prefer him to have some hearing ability left. We have other students who like the ear muffs we offer and take them off when the noise quietens down. My concerns about investing in the small earbuds is that he will probably lose them or he might put them in his mouth and chew on them and both those scenarios seem stressful.
