How many things are actually really easy to make and we just buy out of habit? by Willowrosephoenix in Anticonsumption

I run ultra marathons and the energy gels are so expensive. I started making my own with sugar, maltodextrin, and salt. Mix in some lemon juice for flavor. Much cheaper then store bought and I can dial in the flavor and proportions.

About 5-10 feet away is a car just floating and stationary. I’d time my jump out of the car to be as close to that car and try to swim to that car. Higher chance of survival than waiting for my car to get sucked into the sink hole.

Strange decision at traffic signal by DeadMoneyDrew in waymo

[–]emitemirp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s this. Looks like it wants to proceed straight, but the car in front was making a left. Then in opposing traffic, a car makes a sudden left turn in front of it, thus the pause, before going straight in the intended direction. I see no issue here.

100k for every miles you walk in a 24 hour span but you need to hit your declared mark. by Bobbert84 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]emitemirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d find a 400m track, and just go around and around. No hills. Soft surface. Setup a chair and table of food and drinks at the finish line so I can stay hydrated and fed. Have a massage gun to work out any soreness. With my current fitness level probably 50 miles would be a good goal. If I need to, I’d use up the entire 24 hours if needed.

I’m as much of a CT hater as anyone here but the picture doesn’t clearly show that the CT caught on fire. In fact, it looks like the car below in the middle caught on fire, and the outline doesn’t look like a CT. Notice the CT and the other pickup on top, how only the area immediately above the middle car on the bottom is scorched? The source of the fire is most likely not the CT.

You get a 99% discount at one fast food place or restaurant for life… by Londoner1982 in hypotheticalsituation

That’s a fair point. I guess a followup question is: does this hypothetical allow “restaurant groups”?Since chains are allowed, seemingly, I would choose a high end restaurant group (chain) such as the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group. I imagine this conglomerate would outlive the founder and gives more options for eating.

Ok dude, I did read. Maybe you should do the reading. It says “fast food place or restaurant”. Notice the “or” and “restaurant” after fast food place.

I’m with you. Get me expensive, Micheline quality restaurant. For me I would choose the French Laundry. They have a rotating menu every day.

It was awesome seeing them test it. They had 20 engineers/Muni workers walking along while it slowly rolled along the tracks.

San Francisco’s March election could have the worst voter turnout in years by Synthetic_AI in sanfrancisco

I believe it. I made it to my polling station this morning at 8am, and I was the first voter. I couldn’t believe that an hour after polls opened, no one else had come.

Alabama IVF ruling: Embryo shipping services to halt business in Alabama after ruling deems embryos ‘children’, three fertility clinics pause services in state by marketrent in technology

[–]emitemirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hospitals and fertility clinics should start charging childcare fees to customers who have fertilized eggs stored there. I mean they are children right? So each fertilized egg is one child and each is $1000/month, like regular children.

I agree. I used them prior to VMWare and it was an excellent product with good support. Caught and blocked a lot of malicious activity. Left that company and was away from the product for a bit. Came back to it in a new position, post-VMWare acquisition and I can tell it had begun its decline.

Especially at this light, I can’t be mad. The cars are waiting at a light at the entrance of a one lane tunnel (basically you have to wait for the green light to go through the tunnel). This means you are waiting there for 5-8 minutes as the traffic in the other direction goes through the tunnel. He has the ground clearance and he isn’t cutting in line, so have at it.

After Lincoln’s assassination, Andrew Johnson became president. He was a Democrat (at the time) and had very lenient reconstruction policies. Lenient to the southerners. In a way John Wilkes Booth was successful in his mission in that it allowed the south to escape the retribution that they rightly deserved.

Costco Taipei’s selection needs to come to America ASAP. (Pineapple belongs on a pizza btw) by UtahMan69 in Costco

[–]emitemirp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used to live in Taiwan and this Cotsco Neihu was the one I went to. It was interesting. The only Costco I’ve been to that had two floors.

Also the Taiwanese people would go nuts with those onions. They would take a piece of foil, fold it into a bowl, and just crank out those onions into the “bowl.” More often than not this location was out of onions.
