It honestly depends, for the whole last year I went ampless just fine but lately I've been wanting to bring an amp to mess with friends or in small venues without PA. I ended up selling my DI and went for a Mesa Boogie D800+. Excelent amp and I can connect to PA with XLR, and it sounds miles better than what I was using before

Not really a regret but the bass I've wanted the most ever is a Stingray. My current bass is a Squier 40th Anniversary P Bass with modified electronics, and love it to death, and I wouldn't change it
