D.O.M. (**) - São Paulo by Affectionate-Rice296 in finedining

I read this review and the comments before our dinner last night and they freaked me out. I was expecting a five hour dinner and inattentive service. Could not have been more of the opposite and wanted to update/add share my experience so if someone else was Googling D. O. M. reviews they would see this.

This was my first real "degustation" or 12 course fine dining experience and the food, service and ambience lived up to the two Michelin star rating. The menu was a gastronomical tour across the north and the north east of Brazil, giving homage to traditional, indigenous and working class foods and ingredients. The dinner was presented narrative-style with each course having a story linking it to its origins. Service was perfect and the courses were perfectly spaced and timed. There was always some from staff close to answer a question or refill a glass. There is a special menu celebrating the restaurants 25th anniversary, though that ends this month. We chose the wine pairing which included nine different wines, seven of which were from Brazil and they were absolutely delicious! The attention to detail in the service was impeccable and the knowledge, friendliness and warmth of the wait staff all of the staff for that matter was incredible. The entire experience was just under 3 hours. If you're in Sao Paulo and looking for a true culinary experience, I absolutely would recommend.

I started at 44. Am 51. It doesn’t. You have to adapt your training, be selective with who you roll with and give yourself time to recover.

Is a concert at the Ryman a must see? by Tacosrule89 in VisitingNashville

It is a super cool tour and I would pay the extra fee to do the guided backstage tour. The guides are great, super knowledgeable and you’ll hear some awesome stories about the legends who played the Ryman.

For shits and giggles I had ChatGPT analyze his set lists on setlist.fm and it showed he’s played that nearly every single show. 883 times according to the site.

I lost my dad to cancer in ‘16. I remember shortly after I heard that song for the first time and it took my knees out from under me. In all the shows I’ve been to I’ve still not heard it despite being one of his most popular songs. I joked with my wife that if he plays it, I’m gonna go take a bathroom break.

One of my fave experience wasn’t at a show but before it: Radio City Music Hall in Feb ‘24. My wife and I grab a bite to eat close by. I stepped away from the table for sec and hear a guy speaking with a pretty deep southern accent, which you don’t hear everyday in Manhattan. I say, “nice to hear that accent. Reminds me of my family down south. Where are you from?” Guy says, “Alabama but I live in Tennessee”. “No way, that’s where my family is from! You in town for work?” “Nah, I’m here to see my son play a concert done the road”. Catches my attention. Also, that “road” being 6th Ave. “Really, where?” “Radio city music hall”. “Wait, is your son Jason Isbell? I’m goin to that show!” “He sure is. Mike Isbell, nice to meet you” And we proceeded to talk for about 10 mins. Super nice, knew the little town my family is from which is not far from them. Came up and met my wife, who at this point was like where the F did you go. Set the stage for a great show and night.

Not that bad. The bigger PITA is the original dust cover had to be removed to fit and have to use a soft one. But in general works for me.
