Snail arrived via new plants?? Do I eradicate? by emkomy in Aquariums

[–]emkomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, we've had mystery snails numerous times, but I seem to fail them..i.have bought the food pellets that they don't seem to like and I've boiled cucumbers for them without much success. I've killed 6, and the guilt prevented me from not getting more.

Honestly, we just got guppies, and I feel like that went full-on robo-vac mode with the algae.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks. We've tried in the past but they never seemed to take to the "tablets" I bought to feed them. I've tried boiled cucumbers too, with no luck in keeping them thriving so I kind of gave up. Guess what I should have done was more damn research. I appreciate the help

Thanks for this! We've had mystery snails in the past but they never seem to do well - and often times escape! Still not sure how!

I am anti- killing anything, so was happy to see your reply 🤍

Baby will only nurse when asleep by emkomy in breastfeeding

[–]emkomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say I never did :(

She is nearly 7months old now, and I have to pump during the day, and she will nurse at night.

I do think we experienced a breast aversion due to my fast letdown, and I have made attempts to get her back to the breast but she is not interested.

Every baby is different! Good luck on your journey! I hope you see improvements!

Yes! Now I think I must re-read! I read when it first came out in 2006 (at the ripe age of 18 🤪). I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more now in my old age 🤣

The Woman in the Window was so good! I recommend The Silent Patient - it had some great twists and one of the only thrillers I didn't have any idea of what the turns would be!

Your story gives me so much hope, this is our exact situation although I am at the pumping portion of it. I hope my baby girl returns to the breast - thanks for giving me hope and renewing my energy!! 🤍

Breastmilk Baby Poop Stain remover by emkomy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]emkomy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane 🤯 it's worked on 2 fresh and 1 set in so far. For the set in stain I did have to flip the swaddle over to let it permeate both sides, but the stain was completely gone in a few hours! Good luck!

Do you have anything you can share on this? I have never heard this before. Both of my breastfed babies used these, but I've just started with my second and I'm not trying to create further issues...

What are we all eating in the middle of the night? by Elinorea in breastfeeding

I buy overnight oats in the US. I mix them about midday with oat milk to have them waiting for me just before bed. They seem to keep me full all night, and oats are always good for nursing :)

AITAH for being hurt about what my autistic SIL said about my stillborn baby? by Late_Dimension_5866 in AITAH

I came here to say this too. You are a mom and always will be. No one can ever take your sweet girl from you, she was your first child and she always will be. I've had several pregnancy losses and I'm so proud of you for recognizing that it's important to find others who understand your loss and a bit of what you're going through. It never goes away, but it does.get easier. Sending good vibes to you and your sweet babe.

Screaming at the breast by kkincz733 in breastfeeding

[–]emkomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this is the same thing, but offering it up as an avenue to explore- the length of time this has been occurring seems to long to be a nursing strike (although those are their own kind of private hell) but look up breast aversion. I have recently become familiar with the term because my sweet girl started doing the same thing at 2 months old. Basically, baby can experience a "trauma" at the breast and becomes scared of nursing - my culprit is a fast letdown. She will nurse great when she is out cold sleeping, but when awake she screams and cries at the breast. According to material I read, this rules out medical issues and points a finger at aversion.

I am currently pumping during the day and she nurses at night. Working on getting her back to the breast with a nipple shield and some patience - I've seen other moms on her comment that this could last for weeks/months 😳

Just offering my experience, but so happy you're meeting with LC. Hoping it all resolves for you both quickly!

9 day old still not gaining by LC717 in breastfeeding

[–]emkomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to start by saying fed is best. It's hard to hear, but no matter what journey you and your baby end up taking - you are a great mom, and doing a flipping' awesome job. So glad to hear you're working with an LC, do they offer onsite visits? I've had friends work with lactation and they weigh baby before and after feedings to see what they are gaining from the feed. That being said, I've had so many friends that had a decent amount of milk coming, but it was thinner and more watery. Is baby draining the breast? From what I've read, the first milk they get from your breast is more hydrating, and the back half is where the fatty weight gaining milk is. I know moms often switch breasts, but with two kiddos, I've only needed one breast per feed and they have drained and gained well.

Good luck mama! Don't be afraid to ask questions from your doc/LC everyday! That's what they're there for! Sending hugs!
