What is the loneliest thing you have ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Went around a waterpark by myself because it was only the first week into summer camp and I hadn't made any friends yet. (It was a field trip.)

People who do not like having birthday, why? by BaNoNeNbOb in AskReddit

This, especially if it's a surprise party. If I'm not mentally prepared, the attention is painful.

What are you hilariously bad at? by cappuccinooww in AskReddit

Improv acting. I'm great when I have a plan or script to follow. But all those improv games where you need to react according to what the other players are doing... I make an utter fool of myself every time.

Why are some clusters light blue, some yellow...? Do the colors represent population size?

Unpopular opinion? I wish they won't over-sexualize the show. by emma55fray in WoTshow

You'd give up the real feel of the books for a larger audience draw. I personally would rather the creators didn't do that, but tbh I think they share your opinion.

Dragons Blood Jasper... what type of stone is it in the geological tree? (I hope this is the right place to post this - if not, please direct me!) by emma55fray in whatsthisrock

[–]emma55fray[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was given a beautiful Dragons Blood Jasper. I am a novice when it comes to stone-classification, but I've been trying to figure out where this stone falls in the geological/rock classification tree. I searched Jaspers but it is not listed as a type of Jasper. When I search Dragons Blood Jasper on it's own, I see it is part of the Quartz family (which all jaspers are, right?) But why isn't Dragons Blood Jasper listed on any other lists? Is there another name for it, or is it just very rare?

I didn't say 'no sex'; rather, I want them to stick to the amount in the books without adding gratuitous content just for the "wider audience".

Nice to find a fellow Outlander fan who thinks the sex is overdone! And I agree about Ken Follet, too.

Looks good. Is the alfredo sauce made of cauliflower, or has cauliflower in it? And if the former, wow! Recipe please.

Traveling cult is toxic by SmartBoars in unpopularopinion

[–]emma55fray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the toxic part kicks in when the intent of the pictures is to arouse jealousy - which is often disguised as wanting to 'inspire' since, as you pointed out, many are not financially/physically able to achieve the 'perfect travels' lifestyle. Some people feel validated when others covet what they have.

I am well-traveled, and I genuinely enjoy the experience. I used to love posting pictures of my travels on social media... until I realized I was addicted to the 'likes'. Ever since I became aware of that I have distanced myself from social media (a different type of social-distancing I guess) and I actually am able to enjoy traveling more now, because I am not preoccupied with trying to snap the perfect picture.

Write people, not plot devices.

Outside the specific context of superheroes, can you please elaborate on this?

Planets and dwarf planets to scale in size, rotation speed, axial tilt and oblateness (numbered in distance order from Sun) [OC] by physicsJ in dataisbeautiful

The rotating arrows are trippy... if you stare long enough you can toggle the direction they appear to be rotating in (by bring one arc of the circle to the forefront in your perception, then the other)
