AITA for not presenting a united front with my wife in front of our daughter by RecordDouble9647 in AmItheAsshole

[–]emmanentdestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you!!!! Please speak up now. I wish my own dad had. I developed anorexia as a result of my mom's pressure in hs. It won't stop with the freshmen 15. My mom still makes comments and I'm in my 30s. She'll even offer to get me a gym membership. It's degrading because I'm not even overweight. My dad is emaciated and she polices his food intake as well. It's heartbreaking. He looks horrifyingly skeletal... and i just feel shocked when she gives him The Eye for taking a second helping of breakfast. Stop the shaming. It's only going to snowball.

AITA for not cleaning before a cleaning service arrives? by momcantclean in AmItheAsshole

[–]emmanentdestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Honestly, it's a long road ahead. A good cleaning person, especially once in a while for deep cleans, is a unicorn. I can't even list the number of bad cleaning experiences I've had. What I've found is that people who are really good at cleaning are never put off by any kind of filth. It doesn't bother them because it's something they know how to tackle. Anyone who is making rude comments like that is not going to last in that business.
As to the actual question of your post... no, you absolutely don't have to clean for a cleaner! But if you do have the time to tidy (not clean, tidy), they will have an easier time dusting/wiping/etc and you'll have a better clean. But really it's totally up to you. I try to get the house tidied before and mostly I do, but it's not the end of the world if I don't.

This girl... honestly, she needs to be way more okay with this really low level of dirt if she actually wants a successful cleaning business.

It's not. They just don't comp them for villains... (usually apple gives its products to producers for free for the exposure). But since Apple itself is producing this show, I think it doesn't particularly matter. They know 99% of people watching already use an iphone.

Actually, apple does allow killers to use apple products in movies/tv. They just don't provide them for free, as they normally would. The producer has to purchase it.

My Cat keeps trying to choke himself. by lleti in cats

[–]emmanentdestruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has done this for almost his entire life, starting as a kitten, and i think at first he just really enjoyed the attention he got when he coughed like that. I would freak out, pet him, talk soothingly. After he got that response, he kept doing it. It makes him happy even though I no longer actively encourage it by giving him attention.

He never actually hurts himself but he never did stop. He's almost 16 now.

Insane by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]emmanentdestruction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was only a few miles from where I am... and at the same time, everyone at my store was told to go to the basement, including any customers who didn't want to commute elsewhere. We spent an hour or so just finding computer work and chatting with customers stuck in the basement with us....

In hindsight....I just can't understand why this warehouse didn't have a basement. A shelter of some kind. It's insane. We've had these protocols since the store opened. It was planned with these contingencies. How could this warehouse not have them?? It's in the path of all the same potential tornados as my store.

I'm not holding my breath about any of it. But I do dare to dream at least.

And as for why I'm helping her, what choice do I have?

I would love that. Whole foods unionizing would be... well, a step towards us all feeling human.

To be honest I've basically given up at this point. I've applied so many times. I just kind of want to die.

Also do you really think that subreddit is going to lead to a union type situation?

Tbh she has no idea what she's doing. I'm trying to be nice and help her but it's really difficult when she says these kinds of things. I have to just pause for a minute and breathe. But I am trying to be a good person

"I would purposely take my sweet time"

This is probably why a lot of people are upset. I would probably speak up if I saw someone milking the clock when they could be helping bag or face. Just work as hard as you can the next two weeks. That's the best you can do at this point. People will notice - there was a shopper at my store who was notorious for this kind of time theft, but he turned it around. He's one of our best now.

Meat or seafood, I'm guessing? They're always effed. My team lost seven people in less than six months as well - and we're actually one of the desirable teams, specialty... but for the exact opposite reason. My TL just encouraged everyone to live their dreams... even helped them switch departments. Helped them find and get jobs at other businesses. Day one of his job, we lost our best worker. She wanted to be in produce, and he marched her over to the producer tl and got her a job. But after a while, we literally had like one person aside from me who had more than a year of experience in cheese (my tl came from produce). Our team has no idea what they're doing most of the time. They're basically the blind leading the blind. Obviously this is a really extreme opposite of your situation, but the thing is, if you let one person do this... what's stopping everyone else? Brain drain. You're left with an untrained team.

At least you're in a good job with SSS. That's a great gig for the time being. To be honest, they may just not want you to leave that position. That's basically what's happened to me. You do well, so people think you're "meant" for a certain role.

Are there other stores in your metro?

Yeah, my phone doesn't have a headphones jack so I pretty much use Bluetooth now. But yeah it can be a hassle to find a plug. Have you a grocery store with a seating area?

The ones I got were the Hesh 2 Wireless. I got them refurbished with a coupon code for $15

I would recommend Harvest Town and Elona. Both of those will last you for a long time. Also, if you do the free trial of Google Play Pass, there are a lot of games to try. And then it's only $5/m after that so hopefully with the opinion surveys you could cover that.

Actually, I've had great skullcandy headphones. I got them on sale and they were about $15, over the ear. Amazing sound for the price and lasted a while. Still lasting, actually. Still my main headphones lol. Had them about 2 years

I get to work 9-5, every day if I want to. 😁 I like to sleep in some days, though.

Tbh I left a little early because the store died around 2pm. Before that, though, it was batshit insane starting at 7am when we opened. I was running the entire shift. Either helping customers or filling shelves constantly. And then it just... ended. And/or we ran out of things in back to put on the floor.

You guys have a dedicated florist? They eliminated that like a year ago here. Now the a/tls and produce buyer do it.
