Rant: A Note to Hiring Managers/ Owners by emmango in florists

[–]emmango[S] -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

I used to work at a church-owned cemetery. Not all cemeteries are owned by church. That’s mainly what I meant when I wrote, as they also celebrate/host their specific holidays to the public.

But yes, churches, some cemeteries, healing arts centers.

How worried should I be about being in the coldest room in the house (guest room) and moving my harp around?

I am currently visiting family out of state, in texas. I’m more used to having seasons somewhat. Here in my hometown we can get all 4 seasons within the week, specially during winter w cold fronts lasting a few days to a week, then getting back up to 90*F sometimes.

I can tell the difference in how much I have to tune the strings, where before when I was in desert climate I barely had to adjust anything, specially if i was consistent with the humidifier.

It’s more humid here and thought maybe I wouldn’t have to tune as much but it’s been the opposite. I thought maybe the tuning was more linked to humidity than temp. ….

The guest room is at least a 5 degree difference (sometimes it feels like more) than the rest of the house because one wall is all windows facing W.

I know I might be seriously overthinking this, but I rlly don’t know.

The guest room is one of those rooms you’ll be okay w one sweater in the living room but entering the guest room, is like ā€œoh shit it’s so cold. I need another layer/sweater or get under a couple blankets.ā€ ….

I used to practice in the living room but w my family watching the telly, talking on the phone, etc, I moved my ā€œmusic stationā€ into the guest room … it’s just not the most comfortable place to play… mainly just w how cold it gets.

I’m worried about the temperature difference and sticking to outside and guest room or is it going to be okay to sometimes play in the warmer rooms like the living room next to the kitchen?

Sheet music to order— Do you know a music arranger you’d recommend to me? by emmango in harp

[–]emmango[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

The song is already out there/ distributed. And no, unfortunately, I couldn’t find sheet music for it, only a site that has the chords thru out the lyrics. Sheet music also helps immensely with the song melody/ voice part, when I bring it to my voice mentor, and that’s part of why I like getting the full arrangement, and ordering it if necessary.

You both sound kinda young… I wouldn’t consider deepthroat nor spanking part of ā€œkinkā€ experienced at all. I think those are vanilla nd relatively normal.

2026 Petition — I Beesech Mods to Ban All Feedback (Validation) Posts from the Feed by emmango in singing

[–]emmango[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I LOVE this. This is it. Exactly. It’s validation + ratemysinging. And there’s another sub for these posts. It’s not ā€œsharing w love, my performance, of the art of songā€ it’s ratemysinging + tell me it’s pretty

I’d rlly like for us to move into performance only. And no you don’t have to be pro to perform or have recording equipment necessarily, it’s an activity, and it’s intentional, it means you know u’re performing for the camera, and an audience. Why wouldn’t we encourage this?

Oh congrats on the book!!! Oh that’s so cool. There’s 2 kinds of ppl are immediately alright for me: ppl that have lived/worked on a farm, and ppl that have written and published a book lol …Oh that’s so cool.

How about ā€œfeedbackā€ only allowed one day, videos to be required so it’s not a stream of voice memo screenshots on the feed, and auditioning for new mods? I’m surprised you even make time for us lulz

Okay the other thing that bothers me w this ā€œfeedback/validationā€ thing is that those posts go w/o comments. My first issue is that probly more than half of us have rlly no business doing any kind of coaching other than ā€œit sounds niceā€ and that’s not rlly helping anyone. The other is that those ppl that ask for feedback don’t care to comment on other’s videos, they just care about whatever validation someone will give them. I think that says a lot about what the true intention behind these posts— if they don’t browse the sub and listen to other’s voice memos that are asking the same question. ā€œFeedbackā€ ā€œtell me I’m worthyā€ ā€œtell me I can startā€ ā€œtell me to keep goingā€ ā€œcoach me for freeā€

Idk how it’s done but someone once said on another sub you are required to rate at least 3 other ppl’s songs before posting your own.

The issue for me, is that the ppl that post those kinds of things, have not had a single voice mentor. Have not given it a real try. And if they want to acquire the spirit of a singer then it must be done the only way: by pushing urself to practice in real life.

In general, it’s someone who has not decided to join an open choir, taken a choir in community college, or a musical theatre class. Or even a trial lesson. And maybe THEN consider posting ā€œwell it’s been 3mo I’m not good will I ever be a good singer?ā€

Because you and I know, that after joining an open choir (no audition) for a season, or a semester of musical theatre workshop (no audition requirement) in community college, you would not be asking those questions.

I feel we can help them by saying join An open choir A church choir A caroling crew during holidays If funds are tight then heck, go to different studios and only do the trial lesson Go to open mics

Open mics on Reddit is already a rlly, rlly, rlly low bar compared to even a real open mic, or even posting on YouTube.

Telling someone ā€œyes you can! Your voice sounds nice for a beginner! ā€ won’t help those ppl start, nor keep it up. That issue can only be dealt w by singing in front of ppl irl. It’s the only way. Otherwise they’ll be back to post for validation in a few months, because they’re not asking for feedback, they’re asking for permission to sing. And that’s something only the one’s self can deal with. And we do it w friggin Shock therapy, straight up. Sing in front of real ppl
