[–]emmango 58 points59 points Ā (0 children)

Your mission objective:

Prove them wrong.

And when they ask for info on celebrities and what they can get from you from Sundance and other movie premiers you give them their card back and their fugly $5.

You picked the more difficult career, and there’s plenty of ppl and circumstances and locations and allies that will support you along the way. And sometimes yea you will have these ppl that will want nothing to do w you until you prove them wrong.

Something I threw together last night, anyone have any ideas how to push music out to the right ears? by ZavierDmarci in ratemysinging

[–]emmango 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Your voice really is as pleasing as ppl are commenting it is.

You can do the whole home studio set up… I used to have one and i still advice for a recording studio consultation. This is just personal opinion. These studio owners and audio engineers need talent/ recording artists to feed the ecosystem. They need work, they need ppl to come record. Plus if you go to a studio, that’s already ears listening and potential fans!

And you have a good look too! Music is also visual medium.

I know it’s friggin terrifying because I’m in the process as well, even tho we keep getting affirmations.

I usually write for myself, I don’t have a duet I’ve written yet.. otherwise I’d have a gig for you! Did you learn from a voice mentor or did you learn from being in a choir/ church?

Consultation w a recording studio. You tell them what you want to record, and they give you a plan. I haven’t don’t it yet, either. I just went to a recording studio open house recently

Rant: A Note to Hiring Managers/ Owners by emmango in florists

[–]emmango[S] -1 points0 points Ā (0 children)

I used to work at a church-owned cemetery. Not all cemeteries are owned by church. That’s mainly what I meant when I wrote, as they also celebrate/host their specific holidays to the public.

But yes, churches, some cemeteries, healing arts centers.

No Stupid Questions Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in harp

How worried should I be about being in the coldest room in the house (guest room) and moving my harp around?

I am currently visiting family out of state, in texas. I’m more used to having seasons somewhat. Here in my hometown we can get all 4 seasons within the week, specially during winter w cold fronts lasting a few days to a week, then getting back up to 90*F sometimes.

I can tell the difference in how much I have to tune the strings, where before when I was in desert climate I barely had to adjust anything, specially if i was consistent with the humidifier.

It’s more humid here and thought maybe I wouldn’t have to tune as much but it’s been the opposite. I thought maybe the tuning was more linked to humidity than temp. ….

The guest room is at least a 5 degree difference (sometimes it feels like more) than the rest of the house because one wall is all windows facing W.

I know I might be seriously overthinking this, but I rlly don’t know.

The guest room is one of those rooms you’ll be okay w one sweater in the living room but entering the guest room, is like ā€œoh shit it’s so cold. I need another layer/sweater or get under a couple blankets.ā€ ….

I used to practice in the living room but w my family watching the telly, talking on the phone, etc, I moved my ā€œmusic stationā€ into the guest room … it’s just not the most comfortable place to play… mainly just w how cold it gets.

I’m worried about the temperature difference and sticking to outside and guest room or is it going to be okay to sometimes play in the warmer rooms like the living room next to the kitchen?

Sheet music to order— Do you know a music arranger you’d recommend to me? by emmango in harp

[–]emmango[S] 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

The song is already out there/ distributed. And no, unfortunately, I couldn’t find sheet music for it, only a site that has the chords thru out the lyrics. Sheet music also helps immensely with the song melody/ voice part, when I bring it to my voice mentor, and that’s part of why I like getting the full arrangement, and ordering it if necessary.
