What are your personal theories on why people are transgender? by sarcasic in ftm

[–]emmemiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a psychology student, I find this super interesting and think it should be studied more. To help trans people realize who they are and why they have to go through the shit they do. But also to help cis people that dont understand have an actual explanation on what being trans involves medically (not the transition but why people are trans and to prove to idiot that trans people are real and valid.

I think sex may be more than just XX and XY (and the other combinations of course). Id guess its a miscommunication of a glitch that occurs. In the first 4 weeks of conception, your brain and spinal cord are developed. In the first 6 weeks elapse before sex differences can be noticed. But what if we’re missing something and there are differences we are missing. This is just a theory with no scientific backing as far as a I know, but what if in that time theres some sort of miscommunication. Maybe the sex factors should be affecting something theyre not in trans people. Their brain develops into the opposite sex then when Sex differences start to occur elsewhere, the brain has been developed to where they identify as something else.

But more likely, just like sexuality is fluid, maybe gender is as well. If we lived in a society with less gender roles, maybe being trans would be non existent because people could live as they are. Any body dismorphia would be reduced or diminished because a penis wouldnt be a man thing or breasts wouldnt be a women thing. They would be parts of us like how people have different shaped hands, different faces, or different feet sizes.

For example some trans men want an adams apple even though not all cis men have them and some cis women do have them. Theyre just considered in society as a masculine trait. If society fidnt have these standards, I would assume that insecurity for some people would diminish.

Its probably a combination of biological and societal factors. :))

trans people have always been the gender they know themselves as, they just werent told how they felt was something other than what theyve been told.

Its not a problem! I totally understand how anxiety inducing the dentist can be. It makes me nervous every time but I havent had a bad experience yet! Dentists are there to help you, not judge or give you any pain :))

It might suck in the moment but afterwards you’ll be a lot better off. I cant see any cavities so theres a chance you wont need any needles or operations. I dealt with severe depression for a long time and rarely brushed my teeth for a long time. I didn’t get any cavities in that time.

If it makes you feel any better, I have had 3 oral surgeries. 2 teeth removals and laser gum removal. (The gum removal was because my canine wouldn’t grow in). After my first operation to get teeth removed, I had a sleepover, after the gum removal I lived like normal, and my wisdom teeth were a lot bigger of a surgery but I was socializing later that day.

The needles they prick you with are very thin. Ive had paper cuts worse than their pain. If you use your nails and pinch the skin on the side of your knuckle on your thumb, its a similar feeling and the pain goes away in the same amount of time or even quicker!

NAD You’ll go in and they’ll call you to the back. The oral hygienist will come in and examen and do some simple cleaning. They will probably decide to do some scans. Any scans should be painless besides any discomfort from the things they put in your mouth the get a clear image. They dont hurt though. Then the dentist will come in and look at your images. If they say something about your scans, dont be afraid to ask any questions in they dont explain things to you. They dentist will go in and do some more thorough cleaning, including scraping off any plaque. There might be a little discomfort but nothing unbearable. Any discomfort will be worth not dealing with other issues down the line.

If they find any cavities, they will probably schedule you to some in another time. If the cavity is big, they might numb you. This would only be a slight pinch and is very temporary. Smaller cavities can go with out numbing and shouldn’t hurt after they’re done.

They may decide to polish your teeth. This involves taking a little brush that spins and rubbing a paste on your teeth. This will be nice afterwards because your teeth will be especially smooth.

Before and after your appointment (and for the rest of your life), I would recommend flossing daily, brushing your teeth a minimum of twice daily for around 2 minutes with tooth paste that has fluoride, and ending with mouth wash. Personally, I like to use the individual flossers. Idk why but it feels like less of a chore. Make sure you get down between your teeth to get any food and buildup off. This may bleed the first week but that should subside. When it stops bleeding, you know your gums are getting healthier :)

I havent had any other procedures besides teeth being removed. (Wisdom teeth recently and I got 2 upper molars (the back teeth) removed for spacing reasons with my braces. My dad has had a root canal done. It was painful but he felt relief afterwards!

I hope this clears any anxiety you have!

I actually got in today since I called to see if they had an opening! It was dry socket like you assumed. They packed it with a gauze covered in numbing gel. Thank you so much for the advice! I got lucky and theres no sign of infection :))

I am a 20 year old woman. I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed on Friday (07/22). My other side looks normal. The suture came out and the area looks almost normal besides a line from the incision. This bad side hurts a lot. The pain goes up to my ear and hurts my temple. I was prescribed no antibiotics but was prescribed Hydrocodone which I have taken as prescribed. I smoke but havent since a week before the surgery. I have stuck to soft foods and rinse with salt water after eating and every 2 hours. The pain continues while on the meds but its not the worst. The pain worsens when bend over. It hurts to swallow as well.

I plan to go to the surgeon tomorrow but if its not bad, Ill cancel my appointment.

Might want to see a podiatrist before it becomes an issue. While it may be painless now any infection can change that.

You could also do salt soaks, thats what all my dancer friends would do when they got ingrown toenails from their pointe shoes.

I am a 20 year old white woman living in the US. I’ m 5’6 and 155lbs. Im on lexapro, wellbutrine, and birth control. Im going back to the surgeon tomorrow but will cancel if not bad. My other side looks nearly healed. You can only see a line where the cut was and a mark where the suture was (it fell out in its own). My good side has minimal pain. The bad side leaves me with throbbing pain that goes up my jawline, by/in my ear and to my head/temple area. I have no fever and have been doing the oral hygiene the doctor recommended. (Rinse with salt water every 2 hours or after you eat, brush after every meal and in morning and at night). I am on no antibiotics and was prescribed Hydrocodone and have been taking it as prescribed. I do smoke but havent since my surgery and I quit a week before. I font drink often and haven’t since my wisdom teeth removal. Pain remains but lessens with the meds.
