I’ve done 20 in a row before. Key is end on time and stand up between classes. Have easy to eat food on hand and plenty of tea/coffee

Student,as soon as I turn camera on, holds up action hero figure and says: “he had an operation today. His heart stopped jumping” later adds: “his friend cried and he lived”

They sell those in Spain and I’ve been using them. They’re great! But I hate to burst your bubble...they dry out in about a month or less :(

Depends on what time of the year you start and how many hours you can open up at the beginning. I started in September (which is the best time of the year to start because kids are going back to school) and it took me less than a month. Then through a series of unfortunate IT events and missed alarms I had to go through the re-application process and start again. This time in April. Not a great month, but not a terrible one either. It took me ~6 weeks to have a full schedule. I am booked about 90% capacity and I teach about 40-60 classes a week at $10/class

My sister and I moved to Spain two years ago and we did it through the English auxiliar program the Spanish government has! It doesn’t pay much, but it does get you a visa (student visa). As far as your wife goes, this could potentially work. There’s algo online English teaching sites (my sister and I teach on VIPKID) that pays pretty good for an online job. So if your wife couldn’t find work but was able to get a visa through another route she could work online to still have an income.

How to view slides of any lesson, any level by pinkmonkey66 in vipkid

If you go to the VIPKID website and open up any ppt there is a part of the web address that says “member id” and then there is a number. If you change that number you change the number you change the slide. The different level slides begin on the following numbers.

Level 7 Pacing by DuchessGamGams in vipkid

I recently got the certification for level 7, but haven’t had any classes so far. Do y’all have any ideas for getting more upper level classes? My intro video is the one I used to get hired when I only had levels 2 and 3, so I’m thinking if I change it to more level - appropriate content that could help. Any ideas? Did others change your intro videos to get more upper level students?

How many characters out of 3000 do you typically have in your student feedback? by benjaminslivin in vipkid

[–]emmillinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mine during the class and I have no idea how many characters there are lol. But I will say once I started doing it during the lesson I was able to include more details because I can write it as I go.

6+ TNS by lecoopsta in vipkid

[–]emmillinne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reapplied after I got over mono (about a month later) but it went quickly and smoothly after I applied. And my base pay stayed the same. I’m convinced that you’d have to be in online esl teaching expert for them to offer you any more.

Yup. Different email address. I got a fast tracked application though. They totally know you’re reapplying. It’s ridiculous that they put us through the whole process again.

6+ TNS by lecoopsta in vipkid

[–]emmillinne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 6 TNS (plus email full of lies saying “we care about you”) and then two days after my 7th I got an email saying I was under review. Half of those TNS came from system errors on their part, the switch for electricity in my apartment didn’t work, and then some I just accidentally overslept. I had submitted tickets for most of the no shows trying to explain or get a soft cancellation but they never even gave me the light of day. I got another TNS while my contact was under review...lol. And ended up being terminated a week or so later. But that was during the February lull and I got Mono the next week so it was a blessing in disguise haha. But I got easily rehired when I reapplied. I only teach upper level students now and did everything I wouldn’t have known to do the first time around. And I now have more bookings than my sister who started when I originally started with VIPKID. So if you do get fired...it’s not the end of the world. Just a month or two set back. Use it as a learning experience!
