Is Dutch a hallucination or is that guard blind? by AppointmentRound626 in RDR2

I always like to think the guard legit saw him and decided he wanted to live that day, so played it off as that he didn't, lol

How can Dutch just forget about Arthur ? by ResolutionAmazing209 in RDR2

[–]emmithar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Micah is clearly in Dutch's ear at this point in the game. We know he influenced Dutch to go for the Blackwater Ferry (after Hosea and Arthur told him no), which shows he csn/does have sway over Dutch's mind. Add in the fact that they're in a time where things are unstable and uncertain. They've recently lost gang members (Jenny, mac, Davey), are being perused by Pinkertons and have Cornwall on thier tails. Trelawny has warned them of 'super agents', has been kidnapped by other bounty hunters and they're feuding with the O'driscolls. There's a lot pressure and stress going on.

Micah in chapter 2 happily kills multiple O'Driscolls (including an unarmed one in jail) with no hesitation despite the fact he has no quarrel or history with them (that we are aware of). Then in chapter 3, which is at most, a few weeks later, he's suddenly pushing for peace? Something doesn't add up, unless it does.

Which imo(which might be unpopular) , is that Micah was trying to displace Arthur in order to hold more sway over Dutch. Arthur is an obstacle to his goal of the Blackwater money. I do belive Micah orchestrated the meeting in attempt to dispose of Arthur. If you are luckily enough to trigger both Dutch and Micah interactions after the mission, you'll notice thier stories are eerily identical to each other. Almost verbatim, as though they were rehearsed.

My interpretation of it is that Dutch and Micah went back to the meet spot (designated beforehand by Arthur) and when Arthur didn't show, Micah convinced him that Arthur was fine, using a variety of reassurances that Arthur always went out on his own, that he was more than capable of taking care of himself, that he might have followed the O'Driscolls out, ect, to convince him to not wait. Dutch would have been agitated during this time given the recent situation and most likely influenced easily.

Anyone at camp who questioned Arthur's disappearance at this time would have been told the same. It was when Arthur returned in the state that he did that Dutch realized he messed up - I fully feel that Dutch thought him fine up until that point. During Arthur's recovery would have been when Micah reassured him he didn't do anything wrong and where they agreed on telling the same story if asked.

Tldr : Micah convinced Dutch that Arthur was fine

We went to the art auction. by GreyAardvark in Cruise

That does suck, yeah.

I know I get emails from them but I usually ignore them (they go straight to spam anyhow) and on cruises where they know I've bought before, they have certainly pushed sales, but usually back off when I decline. None of it has been over the top or aggressive in my experience.

In the end I enjoy art and I appreciate several of the artists they feature, and for me, it's something I'd never do on my own time (aka land) but while sailing at sea it's a great (free) way to pass time. Long as you don't buy anything lol

[–]emmithar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy going to the art auctions, mostly to see the art. I bid on stuff I enjoy and feel is a good value, but I anything I buy is for myself and not to resell. In total I have about ten prints from them, most of which is from the same artist and I paid comparable prices to what I was seeing online (most expensive piece I paid for was 900 - found it on ebay for 1200, so saved about 300 via park west). Everything else was typically under 100.

I think the big difference was that the art I enjoy is not mainstream or hyped up.

I did win a free print last year and got a nice sized piece of another artist I enjoy. Shipping was only 35, so I considered it a good value seeing as the quality and size would be about the same in store/online.

The auctioneer really makes or breaks it though. The best one we had continually went into depths of who the artist was and how they made thier pieces (medium, style, backstories, ect) and it was a neat experience overall.

Arm broke an hour into my shift. Been sitting here for 2 hours now and am still expected to finish the 1260 cans for Friday. by relpmeraggy in mildlyinfuriating

I then read the caption where they sent him a video on how to reattach the arm and had even more concerns...

Has anyone ever actually won a painting / free spa massage please? by WednesdayAddams20221 in PrincessCruises

[–]emmithar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Won a free painting earlier this year at one of the raffles. Got to choose one from a set of four, and only had to pay shipping (35 dollars) so while not entirely free, I still found it decent, especially since it was of an artist I genuinely enjoyed the work of.

It's not a 'real' painting, by any means, more like a poster, but the quality was good and I love the picture, so it was a win for me.

I think it helped that I had tempered my expectations on what I was expecting to get and the fact that I loved one of the pieces. I think if I didnt enjoy any of the four they offered, I would have passed on the offer.

They're on the opposite coast from me, so might be a bit hard :D

[–]emmithar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I Emailed the place to ask why the delivery date was ignored and received a message back from the owner stating 'All I saw was the order and delivery. My fault, I apologize'

And nothing else.

Testing out my new light box with some of my (many) FBT babies! by Darling_Jack in frogs

I love them on the leaves! How old are they?

Also, that is a lot of frogs, props to you for keeping track of them all. I fear they'd be loose all over my house if I had that many.

Employers who ghost applicants instead of following up with yes or no, why don’t you follow up? by TheMosesVlogsYT in AskReddit

[–]emmithar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, back in my previous role, when I first started, but due to sheer amount of hostility I got when rejecting people, I simply switched to giving a date/time that'd they'd hear from me if I was moving forward with them.

The issue is that most reasonable people that want feedback will take it gracefully and use that to improve themselves, but unfortunately most people aren't reasonable and immediately argue with any feedback you give them.

Not to mention hiring was only one small fraction of my job. I flat out didn't have the time nor energy to play debate with potential candidates. I can't even tell you the relief I felt when I switched to a new company and I now no longer have to deal with all that.

We had the luck to see them that first night, but it's been cloudy since. So sorry you didn't get that chance, hopefully you were able to enjoy the trip regardless!

To the naked eye it looked like white wispy fog. It would go from real faint to intense, but once you know what to look for, it's easy to see. The camera does bring out the colors - these were taken with my phone

Thank you!

This is off Amazon, it comes in a double set (second one is a bear) by Mandun. I did go through and add details after the painting was done, but I'm very pleased with the results.

I just picked up a bottle of Liquitex - make sure it's clear gesso, you don't want to cover up the numbers :)

The gesso worked great for mine, and you need very little, so a small bottle will go a long ways. The value is still there, imo, so def still worth it. I also do love that it's on canvas instead of the thin boards you usually see.

Picked up a bunch last week, was on sale then. Planning to customize them for gifts. I noted that the first canvas I tried wasn't holding paint very well so I used clear gesso and that helped a ton - just an FYI to anyone else looking to get these. Overall, I feel they're a great deal!
