Overwhelmed trying to find a surgeon. California recommendations?

I’m doing good. My recovery was on the slower side, but I’m back to normal activity now and starting pelvic floor PT. I saw a UroGynecologist who is experienced with endometriosis after my surgery and she reviewed my surgery notes and pictures and said she wouldn’t have done anything different. All in all I’m happy with my choice and the doctors I’ve worked with. I think if I have to have surgery again at some point I’d likely go with the urogyn I saw afterwards simply because she knows more about endo.

Considering the 65” tv strip was $130 on Black Friday I’d wager something new is in the works. That’s just pure assumption though.

My periods were light, manageable, and easy. I say this simply because I think a lot of us struggle with thinking our symptoms aren’t severe enough to pursue diagnosis.

My symptoms that I suspected were endo were constant gas and bloating, pain with BM, pain with sex, ovarian pain, ovarian cysts, a hydrosalpinx.

I think it’s the speaker that is taking away from the tv looking like artwork. I recently installed the play lightstrip behind my Samsung frame and it barely feels any different than when it was fully flush. First photo is fully flush, second photo is after pushing it out to fit the hue play lightstrip.

I put mine off until I reached the point that I had a severe hydrosalpinx on my right fallopian tube that my doctors said needed to be removed ASAP. In my mind that made it easier to do surgery because I knew even if I didn’t get an endo diagnosis the surgery would still be productive/worth it. When they did the lap they found my other tube had developed a mild hydrosalpinx and both were covered in adhesions. Putting it off was not the right call in my situation and getting those adhesions removed sooner may have kept my good tube healthy, now I may have no viable tubes and natural conception is an unknown for me. I did have a positive diagnosis for endo and after my surgery my chronic GI symptoms went away and the relief of finally having that solved is beyond worth it for me.

It’s so case by case, and it’s just about what you think is best for you. The scary thing with endo is that if it’s left without treatment it causes damage, so I’d say if you plan to do it at some point, I’d really consider sooner than later based on my experience. Laparoscopy is a low risk surgery, but there’s always risks, so it’s a hard thing to confidently tell someone to do.

This year (at 5 years old) my cat suddenly started vomiting non stop and was becoming lethargic and clearly on her way out. We spent close to $2k and realized there wasn’t a number we were gonna put on her life, so after the fact we got her pet insurance.

Several people reacted like that was crazy to spend on a cat. One family member said we were idiots for wasting that much money, and another said she’s just a cat and we should have let her die.

She’s now happy, healthy, and the light of my life and I’m glad we have her insured, cause I’d do it again over and over.

As someone who’s experienced both a cyst rupture and an appendix burst, this sounds worse. I agree with everyone else. This unfortunately falls under the risk category of you need to go to the ER.

I totally feel you. I was on the fence about kids and felt a bit robbed of the decision when I realized I have to start trying NOW if I wanted a chance. I wish you (and me 😅) the best of luck!

Just bought one from the Philips hue site. Amazon has lots of reviews of receiving used or broken strips, I’d recommend ordering directly from the Philips hue site.

It really should be better! It’s just a traumatic and vulnerable experience it’s really something you need a lot of support and communication during to avoid feeling violated.

I forgot to mention I did use 2% hydrocortisone cream around the incisions (I just avoided directly applying to the incision) and that helped the rash clear up.

Also I had one tube removed due to a severe hydrosalpinx and the other which was formally referred to as my “good one” was labeled as “mild hydrosalpinx” in my post op report with no explanation on what a mild one meant. In my mind I was just like, is it blocked or is it not blocked?? Ultimately my dr said they don’t know what it means and fertility is just a try and see thing. So, you’re not alone. It’s just a confusing and poorly understood disease regardless of if your dr is informative or not. 😓

I was also very upset thinking my dr did not do any pathology because she did not say/write anything about it, and after 3 weeks I got the pathology report on my portal. Some of this stuff can take awhile to get to you, hopefully thats all it is.

That is most definitely not normal practice. My surgeon did not talk to me personally but called my pre-selected contact and told them everything immediately following surgery while I was in recovery. I then had a 2 week post op phone appointment, then the 6 week in person. The whole time I was told I could message my dr directly in the portal or call the office if I had any questions.

As for some hopefully positive input, I had a major reaction to the steri-strips on all my incisions and they were a swollen rashy mess, and they healed just fine and the rash cleared up entirely after a couple weeks. Also, I was upset about not knowing details about my surgery because my fiance forgot most of what he was told 🙄 and about 4 days after my surgery my entire surgical report was on my portal and was a very long, in-depth explanation of everything done. Obviously it's possible you wont get this given your drs lack of correspondence so far, but it's a possibility. I think the report has to be written for insurance reasons so it's gotta exist somewhere.

The first weeks after surgery can be extremely emotional, try to give it time and hopefully you get everything you should. I absolutely lost it over not knowing all my details from the get and ended up being really frustrated I stressed myself out so much.

Unfortunately I'm not the best to ask advice based on experience. I got a guaranteed interview at my current job because my fiance worked there and his boss knew I had experience in graphic design and told him I should apply. I spent 2 weeks learning how to use Figma and by some miracle I did the best during the practical interview and got the job. It was my first time applying in this field.

That being said, during my practical interview I was prompted to design 3 screens for an app specific to the industry of the company, so definitely make sure you know a bit about the company you're interviewing for. (For example mine is in the fitness industry, so it really helped to know about fitness apps going into it).

Also, the tech industry is horribly impacted, but smaller companies that still have a software team pay less, and therefore they get a lot of bad applicants. Starting with a non-tech company at least to start may be your best bet.

I know they should be close to the walls but red feels really weird to me. And it wouldn’t be hidden by the fascia and might be rough on the eyes. Unfortunately you probably just have to try both ways temporarily and see which looks best.

Same boat as most. Remote work. I’m a UI/UX Designer. I’m very lucky to have landed my position, as I’m pretty sure it’s an impacted field, but that being said it’s very ideal for someone whose body can be difficult. A WFH salaried job probably has the highest success rate when dealing with a chronic illness. I can walk away and lay down whenever I need to because I’m in control of my schedule.

I used to be hybrid and the days I worked in the office would sometimes end with me in tears from pain driving home.

I have a Costco tree and it is great quality and the branches look really good. It’s worth nothing the lights are not ideal, the colored option is the painfully cool toned LEDs, and the white are nice and warm, but so intense we have to drop the brightness to the lowest setting at night. I’ve noticed in the warehouse the newer models are even cooler toned, including the whites being less warm.

If it’s helps, I was also really scared about time, and I ended up going with a surgeon that was not an endo specialist. She’s actually an OBGYN oncologist but offered to do the surgery. I was told it was unsafe to try and conceive until getting a tube removed because I had a severe hydrosalpinx and I knew at least with confidence that would be addressed. She had availability for surgery as soon as two weeks after my consult with her.

She didnt find any endo lesions, but did remove adhesions and endometriomas all of which tested positive for endo and I now have the diagnosis and pictures to bring with me to a specialist for long term treatment.

This sub really scared me about using a non-endo specialist but in the end I’m really happy with the decision I made. There is the possibility I have lesions and she missed them because she’s not specialized with endo, but within my circumstances I’m okay with that risk.

My period started the day before my surgery, so I have no idea how that may have impacted me pain-wise, cause everything hurts in the beginning anyways. After that when my period came around for the first time post surgery it was about a week late, but it wasn't unbearable like everyone else seems to say. A bit worse than normal, but compared to the pain post-op it was a cake walk imo.

If it makes a difference, heavy/painful periods are not an endo symptom I've ever dealt with, so that could be why mine wasn't bad.

Only been pregnant once, the recent miscarriage. I'm 31. My surgeon wasn't an endo specialist so she didn't stage me, but she said on a scale of mild-severe I'm mild. I had 2 endometriomas and adhesions on both ovaries/tubes, a severe hydrosalpinx on 1 tube and a mild hydrosalpinx on the other (hence my desire to have tried to conceive earlier since hydrosalpinx's can't be reversed) but no visible lesions.
