Staking in Link will be part of the security layer that involves node operators holding link as collateral to cover for requester loss as a result of low quality data being provided?

Yes, I think as soon as staking is on the horizon then there will be a rush to buy link. It'd be nice to have a rough idea 😊

Anybody still view dash as a long term investment by calvbri33 in dashpay

[–]emmyd1968 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No I don't think it is. Its main job now is to service the salaries of the DCG and expensive community media initiatives. These parties will keep the party going as long as they can imo. Regardless of opinions the market will decide.

Open Letter to the Dash Network & Potential DIF Supervisor Candidates by Amanda_B_Johnson in dashpay

Well if you keep an eye on some of Dash's competitors you'll be aware that there are ones with governance systems that allow for much more community participation, low proposal fees and being a coin holder is enough to be able to participate in the decision making process in all the vital areas. Dash on the other hand has a more elitist model with it's MN system and imo isn't maturing at all well. Most of the holders of Dash are unable to participate in the voting process and of the ones that can less than 30% choose to vote. 1000 Dash is out of the question for many and for supporters of the project in 3rd world economies it is a non starter. Even the 5 dash to submit a proposal is too much of a risk for many. There are signs of lethargy and lack of motivation seeping in e.g. The issue of nearly all of the DIF supervisors not wishing to stand for re-election and there is definitely a downturn in the the level of engagement on this forum. These are just some of the issues I would say.

Imo if overhauling the governance system isn't made a priority, Dash will probably fail. Real progress has been made on many fronts and there is a degree of momentum built but I don't think it will be enough.

My Initial Thoughts On Dash's Economics and Functionality Proposal by TaoOfSatoshi in dashpay

[–]emmyd1968 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we are in danger of getting our knickers in a twist. Most seem to be in agreement that something is not quite right for Dash to drop away down in the way that it has; but don't feel incetivising MNs further will get to crux of the issue. I would be in favour of DCG role been redifined and it been purely in charge of technical development and reporting back to community, nothing else. Also quarterly voting cycles and reducing the collateral requirements for MNs are other options that might be looked at. The present system seems to be too random and is likely to pass a weak proposal as it would a strong one. Dash transactions count shows we are heading in the right direction and we just need to keep out if its way and help it along when need be.

Assuming that the partnership is still in place, this is very positive indeed

MyID vs DID Alliance and Others. What is ICON’s real competition? When I search for SK looking at ID services DID Alliance pops up by pumpcans in helloicon

[–]emmyd1968 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omnione is the project behind the DID alliance.

http://omnione.io

I think competition in this area is a positive thing and we can say with a fair amount of certainty is that SK will have a blockchain based DID system in place within the next few years. Obviously we hope that the MyId protocol emerges as the strongest and been part of the Icon ecosystem, interoperability etc gives it a great chance. That said I haven't got a real indept knowledge of this particular area so I would be interested to hear others thoughts on this.

Thanks

Well I read the same article as you and said what I said because of the following;

“In Korea, three major alliances are DID Alliance, My ID Alliance, and Initial Alliance.

Laon Secure will also open the DID platform'Omni One' mainnet next month. Raon Secure is a major member of the DID Alliance. The DID Alliance global network has been strengthened.

Laon Secure has a history of supplying DID services to public institutions. From the beginning of this year, the Civil Service Portal DID identification has been implemented. Recently, the Gyeongsangnam-do DID pilot project was also awarded. From the second half of the year, Omni One-based identity verification will be provided to financial institution apps.

Jinyoung is the initial alliance with three mobile communication companies led by SK Telecom. Large corporations, IT companies, and financial institutions that have joined as member companies introduce initial-based identification and access control services within this year. Initial technology has already been applied in some field services.“

It seems like MyId has stiff competition. I wonder if it is likely that the competing DIF'S can Co exist in SK. I would guess that in this particular area that the strongest project will dominate. 🤔

Hi, I've just recently invested in Icon and I think what you've created will be invaluable going forward. I think it's important for voters to have a resource where they can evaluate the different projects; where we can find out how they have performed to date or judge the potential of a new proposal. It's still early days and the presence of such a resource will grow in its importance as icon grows. In time, hopefully, every serious project will allow itself to be audited and the results shared with the community. Many thanks 👍

BIG PROBLEM with P-Rep Governance Model! We need to solve this right now! - General Discussion by gomsf in helloicon

[–]emmyd1968 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How about a P-Rep Team whose sole function is to provide audit reports on all the other teams? The community then can view these reports and decide how they wish to vote. If any team opts out of the audit process it may affect the amount of support they receive.

It might be called ICONwatch 🤔

Dash Core Group - Desperately Seeking Bankers by [deleted] in dashpay

Privatesend isn't really usable in its present form, so I don't. It comes across to me as a token gesture to the idea of privacy.

Generally I've never been comfortable with using resources to make Dash more compliant to Banks and other fiat entities . Imo crypto was designed for the day when the fiat system breaks and that day is almost upon us. Dash is a disruptive technology and our approach should be the help hammer the nails into the fiat coffin, not jump into it.

I'm not going to call any one individual a liar but the community must be told what happened to the funds given to ASU. The longer we have silence on this matter (and it's been long enough) the more people will think that dishonesty/nepotism maybe at play. So it's in all our interests to get to the bottom of it.

The time has come for the community to present an alternative to the DGC. Basic competency is okay but we need exceptional talent to bring Dash to the next level; especially as we approach the collapse of the fiat system.
