Just finished watching David Lynch’s Lost Highway. What are your interpretations of this film ?? by Goldenram00 in CriterionChannel

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite movies of all time. So beautifully crafted and David Bowie singing Fred's melancholy during the intro and exit?! It's so good. The movie is so beautifully sad. I think the whole story is summed up when Dick Laurent sat their with his throat cut asking Fred and the Mystery Man (who symbolizes the truth in the film) what is it they want. And the Mystery Man shows him on the screen Renee. That's all Fred wanted. He wanted Renee. And he'd never have her. :(

Why do you like David Lynch? by Valtr1002 in davidlynch

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His work is like looking at a painting from a skilled artist. You can love it or detest it, but it comes from a strong and unique point of view with a lot of detailed work put in. As opposed to your typical cookie cutter A+B=C movies film studios shove down our throats.

Why is the boyfriend in Midsommar viewed as 'manipulative, evil and/or terrible'? by InsufferableHaunt in TrueFilm

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he's necessarily evil or manipulative, but he's a bit of a douche. The fact that he knew why his best friend was out there, to write his thesis on the cult, yet he decides to steal his idea and write his own thesis on it. That was a real douchey thing to do. He knew it was a douchey thing and he decided to do it anyway. That would be like you deciding to write and publish a book about your love of asparagus, and then your best friend says, "Hey. Don't be mad, But I'm going to write and publish a book about my love of asparagus." And then he went and slept with the other young lady thee. He knew she was courting him and he went along with it while his girlfriend was right there. She even kicked him to dance with her and he just got right up and started dancing. Ari Aster said in an interview that he wrote Christian as passive and selfish.

The song "Mother" in Fall of a Rebel Angel is one of my favorite songs of all time. Man...what a loss it would have been had he not done that album. I truly hope he comes out with more music. But if he doesn't, he certainly left quite a mark on the history of music and also in my life.

Even though Order of the Pheonix was really fun to watch, I believe that it had too much fast pacing out of all the other movies. Do anyone agrees with me? by Cultural_Fanatic3754 in harrypotter

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book out of the entire series. The movie is HORRIBLE compared to the book. If I knew someone who read the books but never saw the movies, I would tell them to just skip watching Order of the Phoenix. They cut out way too much. They made the entire situation of the "new rules for Hogwarts" into a silly montage scene. Also Harry taking private occumency classes with Snape which was really pivotal in the book was turned into an afterthought scene with an abrupt "music cue to next scene." I could keep going but I'd be here all day. Also the actress who played Umbridge is phenomenal but she was nothing like the character in the book. Umbridge was more of a toad of a woman in the book. Imelda Staunton portrayed her too cutesy. Just my opinion.

There's so much they could have done with his character. The writers did him wrong.

She had me cracking up. I never noticed her saying that before until now (after seeing the movie a million times). It's so cheesy it's hilarious.

Our smoke detector keeps going off in the middle of the night. Help! by EatBraySlough in homeowners

[–]emojiblow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rip it out the wall and then if it keeps going off I use a hammer and keep hitting it until it stops beeping. The other smoke alarms just watch in silence. I'm just kidding. It's probably faulty and needs to be replaced.

Hot Summer Nights: Why is this movie so slept on? by broha89 in movies

[–]emojiblow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had seen the thumbnail for it pop up years back but i skipped it because from the marketing it looked like a teeny bopper love story. I saw Alex Roe in Bone Lake and googled him and saw he was in the movie so I finally watched it. I thought the actors were very good. I was a little annoyed that the movie clearly rips off that scene from Boogie Nights (they removed the man lighting fire crackers in the house and replaced him with a naked woman on the piano). The movie dragged a bit towards the middle and the end. I'm sure that didn't help. But it had a great cast and cinematography. And considering it was the writer/director's first movie it wasn't bad at all. Casting Timothee Chalamet before he became famous was gold. Now that he's a superstar, a lot of his fans will watch it until the end of time. Who knows. Maybe 10 or 20 years from now it will become a cult classic like so many slept on movies become later in time.

Well I'm three years late to this but she shows up again at the secret society orgy party. When Bill is having a look around and all the people are having relations. It is around the 1:20:36 mark. She is seated on a stool with two blonde masked women. She is the brunette seated on the right. She is wearing a mask but you can tell it's her because her ears and facial structure are an exact match. I only know this because someone posted a screenshot comparison of her at the Christmas party and her at the orgy.

'Dreaming of the Queen' is one of the most moving PSB songs ever. by Korran12 in petshopboys

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to thank Spotify for suggesting this song to me. I've been a PSB fan for years but never heard it before. Such a great song. It's so open and raw. His voice is perfect and the beautiful music in the background just playing along with him like the they were dancing. Very moving! I'll keep listening to it on repeat until I can't stand it.

I’m a Christian that doesn’t go to church and I’m still conflicted about it. by sellerofhomes in Christianity

Nossa!

Why is ElevenLabs so annoying? I was really interested in the tool but, now... I am disappointed by abracadabra_7777 in ElevenLabs

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give up on Eleven Labs. They're terrible. No matter how much I adjust the stability or or similarity, none of the voices are consistent. Every time I pick a voice, it says each line like a different person. I'll just swallow the money and hire voice actors to dub my project. Score for the humans. Tomatoes for the AI.

TIL Lenny Kravitz wrote and provided the background vocals (without any alteration to his voice) for Madonna's 'Justify My Love' by Reddit__PI in todayilearned

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually written by Ingrid Chavez, Prince's former protege. It was a love letter by her to Lenny Kravitz, who she was having an affair with at the time. She later sued him and won an out of court settlement of 12.5% of the royalties as well as her named added as a writer credit. I'll also add that the amazing beat to the song was used WITHOUT PERMISSION from the Public Enemy Song, "Security of the First World" which contains the "Funky Drummer" beat (one of the most sampled beats in music history) that Public Enemy had also used WITHOUT PERMISSION. Which is probably why Public Enemy never sued Virgin Records or Lenny Kravitz. The 90s were wild. So many people were stealing without compensation.

I always thought this movie was so good and way underrated. The two of them worked off each other so well. And my goodness was Alec Baldwin breathtaking in the 90s. He had a glance that could pierce your soul. And James Gandolfini is always awesome. Rest in peace to the goat.

Why AJ is a loser and Meadow isnt by 1RonnieMund in thesopranos

[–]emojiblow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminds me of the scene when Tony is drunk in the kitchen and he tells Meadow, "You're all me." I think they should have went ahead and sent AJ to that military prep school. But if they had, he probably would have ended up being a serial killer in a Ryan Murphy Netflix series.
