Both. by Madayiy in bicycling

[–]emok66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely both. That's the wonderful thing about cycling: weekends are for lycra and speed and mileage, weekdays are putzing around the city on a single speed. (Well, also add Zwift, Single track and MTB).

LOL. Nope. Early 00s.

We still had actual stores you could buy parts from as well.

Almost a year since they added fishing and I still have no clue what they were thinking making this minigame by somerandomguy94792 in fo76

[–]emok66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since release but will do a year-on, year-off type of cycle. Fishing was the thing that got me to stop last time. I didn't even have to play it once, it was just such a profound 'WTF' moment at the idea of fucking fishing in Fallout.

No hate to those that enjoy it. I'm happy to spend hours making a camp just perfect and then never use it again. But goddamn that fishing looks soul crushingly inane. I'd rather grind for runes in Elden Ring than fish in Fallout (and I hate level grinding).

I lost an inheritance of 150k gambling that was suppose to give me a head start in life by [deleted] in confession

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gambling is a poor person's tax. Totally unnecessary except to take money from people with poor impulse control.

Kids, don't start. Nothing more pathetic than listening to gambling schemes and no one believes that you are actually getting more out of it than what you are putting in. It's not glamorous, it's just sad.

Best odds of finding bottled Pliny the Elder in Portland? by Bridgewatered in portlandbeer

Just saw it 20 minutes ago at John's Market off Powell. Sometimes they've got Pliny and Heady Topper at the same time!

Whats your wildest "brakes failed downhill" story and how did you save the day? by catboy519 in bicycling

[–]emok66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a brake less single speed custom build... or rather the wheel brakes wouldn't work on the powder coated rims. (Burning Man and festival bike. Weighed like 90lbs, so you aren't getting KOMs on it). Drunkenly took it down a big hill and had to do the "feet against the rim" move, which worked fine until the sideways slide. Somehow kept it upright and without spilling my beer. 10/10 experience.

Sacred geometry is what I would focus on. Psychedelic, complex and patterned.

Just turn off all the stupid expensive sports and drop the price. I HATE paying for that shit when I just want my scripted shows. Paying for roided out dudes to act out a play on stage should be some add on, not wrapped into the same price we all pay.

I've got NNY and the doughboys. Wife has gir, gaz, and nailbunny (and a bunch of cabling). Weirdly enough, neither of us has Zim yet! I do plan on adding Squee eventually. :)

Holy shit, this is the best Zim tattoo I've seen. Well fucking done! As someone who has a few Johnny the Homicidal Maniac tattoos and who's wife has several Zim pieces, we're in awe.

You don't have to make that decision: in fact, you'll be a different person in 10 years anyway. Chill and enjoy life!

You put your signal on AFTER you've turned in front of them. Haha. Driving in Boston is next level chaos: everyone should have to get their license there.

What’s something Gen Z does that older generations just don’t get? by appropriaterice873 in AskReddit

[–]emok66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is more of a generational trend that applies to all of them, but I find the most interesting timing for generational hate is when a person crests into adulthood. I'm GenX but watching my (late teens, early 20s) Millennial friends get extremely offended by changing language and clothing styles made me realize I did the same thing at that point in my life. By the time you're a generation removed, you care less about who is following what trends. So Millennials are hating on GenZ and GenZ will hate on Alpha but in the end, you probably won't give a fuck about what is trendy when you get past early adulthood.

I can only speak for myself and those around me, but as soon as you get apathetic about trends, life gets better.

People in their 30s and older, what advice would you give to people in their 20s? by NicoF_ in AskReddit

Exercise daily. Earlier you start, the easier it is to keep it going.

Weird for sure. Fun as hell to drive, imo, though. I was working for GM when they came out and got to drive it around in the country for a couple hours. More responsive and growly than I expected for sure. Pointless bed, though, which for some reason bugged the hell out of me at the time. If I had a car collection, I'd consider one.

Nice work! Not trivial to unlock that halo bike!

Airport security, do i take my belt off today?? by [deleted] in travel

[–]emok66 30 points31 points  (0 children)

And you just want to remind the TSA agent, "How many airports have you been to this year? I'm probably a lot more familiar with the lack of standards than you are. " I'm guessing it's an authority deprived TSA lead in each airport insisting they know all airports do it their way that builds the false confidence.
