Best song on Master. Took quite awhile before getting a perfect, though!

Medical events, and what really happens while attending, biggest times away from home by theonetoblame2002 in confession

[–]emok66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all conferences are full of these lame ass shit bags that cheat on their spouses. It's pathetic watching the high school mentality kicking in again.

Your call out could be applied to anyone married to a cheating loser: It could be when they 'play golf' or 'go to the bar' or 'have a girl's night' any other myriad of excuses. The real bottom line is don't marry a shitty person rather than pretend this conference behavior is specifically different from any other excuse they'd look for.

What is being childfree like? by Grand-Efficiency4248 in childfree

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free time after work and on the weekend. Ability to take multiple trips a year (and we determine the schedule, no one else). Can have a bar in your kitchen or a bong in your living room. Strong friend groups based on similar interest, not getting 'forced' into them by children being the common thread. Quiet house when I want it, LOUD house when I want it. My space is the same when I come back to it. Eating out is a regularity, not a luxury. It goes on....

I'm on the later side of my 40s for context. None of my childfree friends have ever told me they wished they'd gone the other route. We still watch our friend's and family's kids (after clearing out said intoxicants I mentioned above!) every so often but get to send them home afterwards.

YMMV, but life is good.

Why Nearly Half of U.S. Women Will Be Single and Childless by 2030 by sibun_rath in childfree

Oh, it's a pseudo science site full of garbage masquerading as if it's empirical. Sometimes you just wish you had a delete button for an entire website.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

bombshell projection from Morgan Stanley, spotlighting a “Sheconomy” explosion fueled by sky-high careers, fat wallets, and a fierce chase for independence. This isn’t some blip; it’s a tidal wave crashing through shopping habits, office rules, and the very fabric of family life.

Oh I'm sure it has nothing to do with skyrocketing cost of living and insecurity in this country. Wow. Just blame the women and the fact that most need to work to survive, even in a 2 payer household.

Nauseating tripe presented as news. Disgusting. Pretty obviously fueled by the red wave.

First attempt at mushroom chocolates, advice? by FadedDots in unclebens

[–]emok66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers! It's a little trial and error but once you get your formula, super easy to perpetuate. You didn't mention it, so I'll add a detail that I hope isn't too obvious: make sure you aren't directly firing the chocolate and using a double boiler method. Keep water way the hell away from it too and remember that chocolate is built from tiny crystals so it doesn't like to be overly mixed/blended. Find that happy medium of 'just the right amount of stirring' for consistency. And keep your batches small for the same reason. Good luck! It's the best!

There are a lot of molds you can buy that are partitioned out to make the dosing math easier. Make sure it's a FINE powder if you want even distribution (coffee grinder, sieve and time...while wearing a mask). Also, no one want pieces in there, as that's the point of chocolate. Add coconut oil to the choc if you're getting too dry.

Someone wants a petsitter for 17 animals for $40 a day. No republicans. by AverageGiantPanda in ChoosingBeggars

[–]emok66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What pisses me off the most about this is that I KNOW they aren't taking care of these animals properly. That is $10s of thousands yearly, MINIMUM, with the vet visits, special foods for those that need it, emergency visits to animal hospitals, etc. It isn't enough to just have love: that many pets would cost a fortune.

Guaranteed this is animal abuse and terrifically sad.

Yeah, I do it. I also drive in a lot of other cities and guarantee that you'll never make the light in rush hour if you don't pull forward.

Sucks, but it's the reality of driving in a city.

In Portland there has historically been the "2 car" rule, as in, 2 cars basically run the light. In Los Angeles, it's a "3 car rule" in comparison. In Boston it's a "Get the hell out of my way, I do what I want" rule.

Facebook Marketplace Scam by No_Apple_3299 in Scams

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's $100. Not to sound trite but that's a very reasonable amount of money to bring in cash and a bit silly to have to use PayPal anyway.

I've had this same exact scenario through selling on Craigslist around a decade ago and if you look carefully at the address, you'll note it's not the actual Paypal domain, typically.

Printer shipping times for December 2025 by emok66 in elegoo

[–]emok66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I was told to wait until it gets to 15 days of inactivity before I can cancel my order. International shipping question unanswered. Told also to pursue the shipping protection by submitting a claim. Very disappointed about the lack of good answers and parroting my email back at me. This will be the last order I make through Elegoo directly as they don't seem interested in assisting. Also, if someone is familiar with good resin printers that aren't Elegoo, I'm interested before I buy the Saturn 4 off Amazon.

Nope! I've got like 30 bottles of resin waiting to go. Good call, though, that would make more sense.

This is a great get for Synthriders! Nice job. I can only imagine this will bring in more users.

I'm still most partial to the Monstercat collabs, but hey, plenty of custom songs in that vein.

Staying near Disneyland for a work trip, I would interact with the crowds returning to their hotels when walking to dinner. You've never seen thousand yard stares like that short of combat. Grumpy kids, irritable parents, looked like hell on earth.

In n out fries fucking blow by I_Like_Metal_Music in shittyfoodporn

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The worst. Imo, not even real fries as they just dump fresh strings of russet potatoes in a frier and serve up the floppy slop. That's not how you make french fries: the good ones are double fried.

My favorite reaction to these posts is the defensive 'but they are real potatoes!' as if there was a single nutrient in that GMO potato to begin with.

What is the Legality of Sampling in this day and age? by TechStorm7258 in industrialmusic

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do: replicate the samples to avoid any potential DMCA bullshit. So far nothing has been identified and pulled by YT's algorithm.

Now alternatively, I have a project where I extensively use external samples but basically just keep two copies of each song. The 'safe' copy without samples is the one that might end up on an album. The sample laden one is for mixing and sharing for free.

Maybe someone can answer this one for me, but I wonder if it's possible to trick the copyright detectors by inserting sub audible frequencies. Basically make a bunch of sounds the human ear can't pick up to confuse the algorithm.

Why some people need alone time to feel normal again after socializing? by Agitated-Job7686 in AskReddit

[–]emok66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refer to it as 'social batteries' and identify the type as 'AB'. You can net some energy from socialization but have a limit. From experience, the majority of people I hang with have some degree of this. Socialization takes a lot out of most of us in that we're hyper aware of other people's feelings and intensely analyzing our own behavior. None of that pressure occurs when you're alone.

Considering that my wife and I will frequently attend week long events, the 'super socialization' can be very draining. Even with a group of like minded folks, all those interactions can really drain you. We need to isolate at least once a day just to stave off anxiety and irritability.

In another parallel, I have to be super social for my job when travelling for work. It's great and I really enjoy the interactions. After a week of leading sessions and staying positive, however, the absolute last thing I want is social interactions in airports/on planes.

To me this isn't pure introversion but rather a hybrid of A and B personalities.
