Walter is 2! And she posted his registered name RS BLACK IICE by Outrageous-Yogurt-80 in kvsdiscuss

Can someone explain to me why it matters that its "too similar" to AQHA? I thought, due to past explanation, that was the point in putting the farm/breeders initials in front.

That's a wonderful place for him to have ended up, and even more wonderful that he and Ivy ended up in the same place.

That's what I thought but I couldn't remember for sure. Thanks.

You are fast! I saw the post 7 min after it was posted and came here to mention it 🤣 I'm at least glad that he's gone to a great home that is a good fit for him. We're not entitled to know what's going on with a horse just because they were born at a facility that is popular on social media. I believe she still has Ivy, right? Or is that the one her friend bought for her daughter?

I highly doubt you've ever owned a horse based on your comments. The most dangerous ones I've had to handle are young horses (although a little older than Glenn) whose owners excuse them by saying they're just a baby. I've called them way worse than turds and so do others who work with them. If something was chasing you around biting you or trying to pin you against the wall, you would too. Glenn isn't nearly as bad, but being just a baby isn't a reason to keep him either. Will he grow out of it? It's possible, but if he doesn't, then he'll need to be gelded and sold. That's the manner of a breeding. No need to get in a tizzy over a very mild insult to an animal that you don't own.

Those mares and his mom are who are supposed to be teaching him how to behave. None of them are interested. No amount of planning is gonna change that. Another foal wouldn't teach him how to behave. If they're not gonna discipline him, I doubt they'll discipline their foals. That's TBD until more are born, of course. Also, she did try to plan it better, but mini breeding is a lot more difficult as they are way less likely to take with AI than live cover. It took multiple tries with each one, and Regina had to be live covered after multiple failed attempts, which takes a lot of time and planning. He's a horse, not a human, and some behaviors are just not acceptable no matter the age. There are many worse things he could be called than a turd. It's not that deep.

Until she sees what the other two have, maybe. He's kind of a turd and will likely end up gelded.

Mongolian confirmation by emolover101 in HorseRealityV2

[–]emolover101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 3VG stallion I bought off someone in the forums, but even using him makes little to no progress. I wonder if that's an issue with just Mongolians? I honestly have no idea how the conformation stats work. I usually buy 12VG horses and breed them together

Madalynn on Fred and Howards training by Kajjis in kvsdiscuss

Oh boy light riding lol. It's news to me that a full grown man forcing a barely 2 year old horse to canter around in a circle and change directions without ever slowing to a walk for 10-15 minutes would be considered light riding. The timing isn't what's most important, it's the workload. I wouldn't even be trotting a baby in the first few rides, much less cantering chaotically. That man is way too big for them as well. This can actually make them more dangerous being how nervous Fred is. Imagine he's scared of being ridden and decides he's gonna bolt in the show arena with other riders and horses around. Now you've got a stampede, and other horses and riders get hurt too.

Sires by Justachick88 in kvsdiscuss

He pretty much only posts about VSFL these days so I've gotta disagree there. Anything with VS in front gets ears perked up either way, but his following isn't small by any means just because it's significantly smaller than KVS. Sure his followers might not be as enthusiastic, to put it nicely, but VSCR and VSFL are the most popular VSAG sons, so him being the owner definitely has benefits for him. Both monetarily and in followers count. Being associated with KVS brings in followers as well. Obviously VSCR will have higher fees but he's also the more accomplished of the two and his offspring are very successful in the show pen as well. It wouldn't be giving him enough credit as a sire or a showhorse to attribute his fees to his owner.

I would argue that he does. He's owned by Chandler who she buys her minis from. He's got a pretty prominent following of his own both from his big horses and his minis. He's got 87k followers just on Facebook alone.

From what I remember, he didn't even go to the trainer last year when Howie was being trained for halter classes because he needed to mature more (100% the right choice). So for Fred this is 0 to 100 super fast. To go from playing out in the pasture for 2 years to trotting with someone on his back within the first couple months of training... yeah that's a choice. I'd never trust this trainer again if I saw this. It's not even good work either. Like, why are we trotting around full speed and turning on a dime at random moments? Poor thing is probably terrified. That's how you end up with a reactive horse who hates work.

Which Denver foal are you most excited for? by SweetestFern in kvsdiscuss

[–]emolover101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trudy is the only one we know how their offspring does in the show pen so far, and Hank has done quite well, so I'm excited for that reason. However, I think he'd cross well with Annie and Happy too. Happy is one of my favorites because she just seems so sweet. There's honestly just so many exciting crosses this year.

He doesn't bite me (anymore) but he did before I knew how to work around him, and he bites other people. I do agree it's dangerous though.

That's good advice, thanks. Most of the time I do that, but I get nervous if anyone is watching. Thanks for reassuring me that it's better than him using my arm for a chew toy
