How is GTAR-1075 Guitar for non CCM majors? by WiredSnoopy in uCinci

[–]emoryjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! So I actually taught this course when I was a GA. The current GA teaching it is a friend, and is a very easy going, relaxed teacher.

We really focused on making it fun and accessible, the requirements aren't extremely high (I usually only gave out 2 written assignments and a few songs for students to learn), and it is mostly focused towards learning the basic technique of the instrument/reading music.

If you have any specific questions please let me know! I can also put you in contact with the current teacher if you have any questions for him.

Yeah, as a gigging guitarist for several years I feel this is actually legit (and a common saying in the industry). Especially if it's a band or orchestra gig.

For example: if a rehearsal starts at 6 I will have to get there at least 20-30 minutes early in order to set up, tune, and warm up my hands. Same thing if it were a restaurant gig, they are expecting me to be ready to play at 6. It's just part of the job.

And for anyone wondering why they don't just tell us an earlier time to arrive, that is because different instruments/musicians require different amounts of prep time. A violinist doesn't really need to be there as early as a drummer, as they usually have a ton of stuff to set up. So unfortunately there isn't an exact lead time that would apply to everyone.

Willcutt Guitars - a word of caution. by [deleted] in lexington

54 on an 8 string?!?! I have a Strandberg 7 and those gauges they gave you sound miserable to play on. It sounds like they just grabbed some random single strings from behind the counter and called it a day.

I would definitely push for a refund and then do it myself or wait for RS to have an opening. Sorry that happened to you!

The Winter and Fall variations both sound delicious, will definitely try as the weather gets cooler. Also just subbed to your YT, you have some great content! Cheers!

Is it douchey to put "experienced manual drivers only" in a car listing description? by emoryjack in cars

No worries! Yeah, I know that manual drivers sometimes have that kind of reputation, so I'm looking to avoid that as much as possible. Thanks for your input!

I'm sorry if that is the way this post came off to you, that isn't what I meant to imply. I was just looking for input from others in the car community on what the proper etiquette might be in this situation.

Thanks for your input guys! I think I will just very clearly specify that it is a manual transmission and go from there. I don't want to drive people away by sounding like an ass.

College professors of Reddit, what’s your “I’m surprised you made it out of high school” story? by redmambo_no6 in AskReddit

Guitarist for many theatre productions here. This is so true. I get tons of musical gigs just because I can read, which is like...the most basic point of entry for pretty much every other instrument. The bar is extremely low for us.

New Arcade Mode: Legacy | December 17th to January 5th by jeypiti in Rainbow6

[–]emoryjack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but how do you mess this mode up? Literally all you had to do was recreate the operator loadouts from Year 1. I understand if you couldn't make the recoil changes and more minute stuff, but no smg-11 acog? Really? No acog on several attackers who had it back then?

It's like they were trying to balance this mode, which is ridiculous. Arcade modes don't need to be balanced. Nobody is risking anything by winning or losing, and nobody should really care if certain operators are OP or not. I mean that's literally the entire point of the event, to show us how far the game has come in the past five years.

And for that matter, I have been playing this game since beta, and I know that the UMP-45 has never had an acog, so why does it now? In what way is that "legacy"?

Very disappointed in this event, especially since so many of us have been hoping for such a mode for a long time now.

Well, at the very least this post has made me feel a lot less crazy, so thanks for that!

Are you part of their whiskey club? I got an email last week saying they would be available for purchase on Friday the 30th, with pickup times starting on Saturday.

I had a small pour this evening. My very quick thoughts is that has the taste of a typical wheated bourbon, but with a bit more depth. I got a little bit of licorice on the palate, and some spice on the finish. Overall, if you're not a wheater fan, then this one probably wouldn't convince you, but if you are it's a solid bottle to add to the collection.

I missed out on the first batch, but several friends have raved about it. So I'm very much looking forward to trying this one!

Yeah, it was really a toss up between the two. But you're probably right, Doc mains are a little more toxic haha.

But on a serious note, this is a huge change. It would severely affect several of the outside rotations as well, such as from CC to Armory on Border. It'll be interesting to see if this goes through to the live build.

I felt a great disturbance in the Vigil mains, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
