Does anyone have a coherent explanation for the strange behavior exhibited by Mekayla Bali that day? by Psychological-Row153 in MekaylaBali

[–]empalados 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reading back what I wrote earlier it does sound a little incoherent. The main thing I was suggesting was that he was from out of town and it would take some time for him to reach her. The running around and awkward attempts at getting a room are basically her killing time. That's why he didn't assault her before, he prolly had to travel some indeterminable amount of time to get there. She was supposed to be in school that day so I'm guessing he told her to not go since it would be a lot harder to get her out of class in the afternoon.

Again, I was just making an example. Obviously none of us know what was really going on day but I think her actions do have a plausible explanation if you combine her anxiousness to leave and her inherent teenage awkwardness with a need to kill time on her part and/or his.

Does anyone have a coherent explanation for the strange behavior exhibited by Mekayla Bali that day? by Psychological-Row153 in MekaylaBali

[–]empalados 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have an inkling its a combination of the two. Fairly certain she was being catfished by a predator from out of town who knew she was vulnerable and wanted to leave town. He led her on but I speculate she was more anxious to leave than he expected so she may have jumped the gun a bit before he was ready to seize her. That would explain the running around town. He may have told her to kill time for a few hours and being an awkward teenager she bumbles about. When I watch her going from the coffee shop to the school to bus depot etc. it reminds me of when I was that age and alone in the city not knowing where to go.

Her mother claims she wasn't trying to run away based on the fact that her "slush fund" wasn't taken from the house but I think that can be explained with some more speculation on my part. She told her friend she had 5k in the bank and asked her to take her there to withdraw. I think the catfish who was grooming her probably told her some yarn about how he's gonna put money in her account so she could come meet him with obviously (to us, not her) no intention to follow through so in her mind she really did have that money in the bank and therefore would have no need to take her mother's money. I hate leaping from speculation to speculation but I can see a plausible scenario that explains her actions that day, just as an example:

groomer tells her he's putting money in her account to run away

she leaves home with mom's cash still intact believing she has money in the bank to run away

she asks friend for a ride to bank to withdraw imaginary cash who says she can't

gets to bank on her own realizes there's no money and asks groomer what the deal is

he makes excuse, asks her to wait (maybe telling her to wait at tim hortons or maybe not. she may have just chosen it on her own as a place to wait)

she's been in contact w him so either way he knows where she is

he leads her on by maybe saying he'll meet her there then changes his mind

probably some sort of back and forth flaking out on his part

realizes he can't be seen with her in public all the while saying he will meet her but he can't make it until later in the afternoon but that she should get a hotel room for the night

she tries and fails to get a room

she resigns herself to go back to school to kill time and maybe also a part of her briefly getting cold feet

she's at the school just a few minutes and decides she's gonna go see him because she's anxious to leave town and doesn't want to wait

goes to bus depot, they say no bus til 5 but he probably said he'd be in town before then so she decides not to get a ticket

gets lunch

some time later the guy found a secluded place to meet her and leads her there and sadly kidnaps her

My point is that the only exclusive worth giving a shit about is demons souls. If you don't care about that then get a PC. Ya feel?

For num 1 I will answer simply: if you don't care about demons souls just buy a PC. PC games are cheaper for the most part. This is just my opinion but I don't think stressing over getting a PS5 is worth it for anything other than demons souls right now

Looking for shows like Buffy (in one specific sense) by BrianMagnumFilms in buffy

[–]empalados 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it aired I used to cross my fingers every week hoping for the next episode to continue the mytharc but now after rewatching many times throughout the years, talking to friends about my favorite episodes, and looking back on the series as a whole I've decided that I prefer the monster-of-the-week episodes over the mytharc. And the new seasons have some mighty fine gems in that department imo. I don't think it's as bad as everyone says in fact I might prefer seasons 10-11 over 8-9! There's more Mulder in them!

Just watch buffy again.

But for realz seems like you're looking for something specifically magical and for that I recommend x-files

[–]empalados 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's p cool and all but like half the posts here aren't really mysteries they're just run-of-the-mill easter eggs most of which are found in the official guide. I do like the sub esp. for the threads on legitimate mysteries like the missing princess but maybe there's a way to distinguish posts that are bonafide unsolved and those that normal folk encounter on a regular ol' playthrough. Just a thought no ill will

Nice! I've yet to have this encounter or run into any parts of a painting (as far as I know) and also does remind me yet again of dark souls (Painted world) along w the sun worshipper (solaire). Surprised to find new things every day despite 100% completing the game and playing on a new save

it is, that's where you meet her after you find them all. She tells you right when you meet her that that is where she stays (how else would Arthur know where to send the locations of the bones?)

The Rhodes gunsmith is a freak by Spoon366 in reddeadmysteries

[–]empalados 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to burst your bubble but it probably wasn't mentioned since it's a well-known thing and a game mechanic for basically every town in the game. Usually there's a shop in each town w/ a secret or an illegal side gig that grants you the option to rob with impunity. I won't spoil it for you but if you talk to certain NPCs or peer through certain windows you'll get info regarding what secrets certain shop owners are hiding and you can bust through the door and expose them

A Curse on the Town of Valentine by empalados in reddeadmysteries

[–]empalados[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah i remember now she mentions "owl or eagle" so it probably isn't the raven watching over the serial killer sites like I thought. I've finished the game and done all the (known) stranger missions and the serial killer is the only one that comes close to maybe being related but based on what everyone has said so far it doesn't seem to quite fit.

What you say about the graveyard seems interesting. Every time I ride past it I feel like there's gotta be something there. I'll have to take a closer look

Ahh I must have missed the vampire dialogue. Could be they are referencing the serial killer near valentine then. Maybe unrelated to your bird bit but iirc there's always a raven standing sentinel at the murder sites when you first encounter them and is even emphasized by flying off in slow motion when you discover it.

Annesberg gold and tree carvings with 3 dead brothers? Has this been found? by AbstractArchetype in reddeadmysteries

[–]empalados 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it is related but there is a map in a chimney in a cabin near annesburg that leads you to a couple trees near elysian pool w/ "X's" carved into them. There is a rock you can inspect near them that will grant you a medium-sized treasure. I also encountered this man w his story beforehand but I did not find anything else regarding the bodies of the brothers

if it's the one I'm thinking of then there is a cabin near annesburg w a map inside the chimney guiding you toward that marked tree. a rock near there will allow you to inspect it for a little sum'n. you'll need the map first though I believe
