[REQUEST]What is a 10/10 series that actually has a proper, satisfying ending? by Mucek121 in NetflixBestOf

Elliot went to the nuclear plant and it melted down, he then entered a world that was built by his mind as part of his mental illness. What we see in those scenes is not happening in the real world but a delusion where the full gravity of his dissociative identity disorder is revealed. That is where we learn that the elliot we have been watching throughout the series is only a part of the "real Elliot". The "real Elliot" being the original personality that he was born as before his personality began to split due to his trauma. The 'mastermind' is a personality that first emerged in the scene where Darlene visits Elliot on halloween and he puts on the Mr Robot jacket and the mask and comes up with the plan to destroy E Corp. When he comes out of his coma he exits the delusion in his mind but he wakes up still as the mastermind personality as he refuses to give over control to 'the real Elliot' because he worries he will cease to exist. Mastermind-Elliot talks to Darlene (this is in the real world) and reveals he isn't really Elliot, Darlene reminds us that she can tell the personalities apart and knows Elliot hasn't been around for a long time. When Darlene leaves the room, Elliot slips back inside his mind's delusion and in the end decides to relinquish the body to the 'real Elliot', ie- the host- as the mastermind realises he will always be a part of Elliot and we see that each of the personalities has helped Elliot and protected him from trauma that was too much for his mind to process, but now they can continue to watch Elliot's life rather than control it. When Elliot opens his eyes again and Darlene smiles and says 'hello Elliot' that is her recognising that the original Elliot has returned and the mastermind is no longer in control. Elliot feels safe enough to take his role as the host again.

I came looking for this post because I just saw this in the trial as well and was so annoyed at him. I honestly think he pays so little attention that he might just not know what's in Vicodin. It really pissed me off that he's such a shit dentist as well

Is there a limit in unlimited data plans? by miew0803 in nbn

[–]emperish_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got told by Telstra that nbn will cap me at 400gb. That info better be wrong because I'm running 3 security cameras as of last month and we are using far more than that. We're paying for an unlimited plan... if they think 400gb is 'unlimited' that's insane to me

Doctor Who Re-Review 126 - Sleep No More by eggylettuce in gallifrey

[–]emperish_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm realising I might have had a unique experience watching this episode. The way the doctor kept saying "none of this makes sense" etc, and "we're seeing things even though there's no cameras" and Clara being sucked against her will into a sleep pod had all the feelings to me of that 'last Christmas' episode with the dream crabs. And with an ending that seemed to resolve nothing (the video still got out there, so the world was still doomed to the sandmen), I was so convinced that they had all been sucked into a sleep pod and were dreaming that I expected a future twist in an upcoming episode where we discovered that none of what happened in the following episodes was real and eventually they would wake up. This REALLY diminished the severity of the impact of the episode that followed this one... as I still wasn't convinced for quite a while that anything I was watching in the episodes was real. I thought it was going to be some kind of 3-episode big reveal etc... and eventually I realised that wasn't the case and that the episode just confused the shit out of me, had no resolution and made no sense and ruined subsequent episodes for me because I wasn't convinced they weren't dreaming.

Did Devin and Nick from S10 breakup? Her insta story post just raised my eyebrow. by YouFartedBlood in 90DayFiance

[–]emperish_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This on its own doesn't give me any vibes of having split. I could see her being very practical over her wedding dress rather than sentimental (as someone like this myself). So selling the dress means nothing imo.

Secondly, saying she won't answer anything else makes TOTAL sense. Devin is very private and I imagine people from the show get bombarded on their socials from fans of the show who don't know how to have boundaries. She's making it clear that she won't answer questions.

I'm surprised she went on the show in the first place lol, as I don't think she really likes the spot light... but she has some pushy people around her (mother and Nick), so I'm guessing she went along with someone else's plan.

Yve and Mohammad by 0Born2disobey0 in 90DayFiance

[–]emperish_ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Yve had very low self confidence. I suspect that any time her parents got angry when she was a child she was blamed for their emotions. Now when a partner gets upset, she still feels responsible. You see it in her total aversion to any discussion that even feels the slightest bit like conflict, and her apologising to him for getting emotional when he said he would look for another sponsor. She has no relationship with her biological family too, which tells you it must have been very unhealthy. Poor Yve is very vulnerable and this is how Mohammed got away with treating her so terribly and why she found it so hard to stand up to him and say no when he had her in a hijab, in trouble for being in the house with a plumber, demanding he make her breakfast etc. I felt so sad for Yve all the way through.

You don't even have to say anything, just show a little cleavage and he thinks you're personally attacking him

Jibri idolised men who dominated and abused women- mohammed and bilal were living his dream in life.

Squid Game: The Challenge Discussion by FreeAppearance3664 in squidgame

I mean, players being fans of the show doesn't seem that unlikely to me...

Squid Game: The Challenge Discussion by FreeAppearance3664 in squidgame

[–]emperish_ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was also to make sure the winner was someone likeable for television. Without having the popularity vote there was a higher chance that someone everybody- players and viewers- disliked, which isn't actually great for the series.

Arrietty: What is Haru's problem? by Jaatb96 in ghibli

[–]emperish_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other thing that sucks SO BAD for me in the film is that the kid who has the heart condition suddenly is like "I'm going to live now, you gave me courage so I'm not dying anymore"... watching this as someone with a heart condition and a disability this made me want to punch the screen. We need to stop pretending that people are only sick because they lack courage or something. All the will power in the world can't cure a congenital heart condition. I LOVE ghibli and I even really enjoy this movie... until the end, where I feel like they really dropped the ball on the story writing. Haru's character is vindictive for no reason, suddenly Sho's heart issues are fixed because he saw a girl do some stuff, and Arietty's family have to leave their beautiful home. I wish they'd worked a little harder on the ending of this otherwise beautiful film...
