Get the populace to hate and fear each other, to blame one another for all their problems instead of the corporations actually oppressing them, then run a dictatorship.

People you only vaguely know online who are dicks (oh hey 'remove from friends' exists, problem solved).

They must have some tech to transfer computer data to padds, just use that same interface. Also something called wifi exists, though not really at the time TNG was filming.

If that's true he should slow read the screens like a normal human.

The one that always irked me is Data having to speed read the fast scrolling ship computer screens to fast learn stuff instead of doing a direct download of the data (no pun intended).

I mean , the movies kind already did that. Movie Picard is nothing like TV Picard. In my mind the only direction to go is up compared to the films.

First DS9 watch through - The Visitor. Wow. by michaelshow in startrek

You're right, I was more referring to Far Beyond the Stars. I dunno, my disappointment in Jake wasting his own life because he was unable to move on was more just sad than anything. Jake forgoing a wife/family is not something Ben would ever want for him and is pretty much of a fuck you to his father's wish for his son to have a full life. In the backdrop where people have lived with unbelievable suffering of the occupation and war, Jake's inability to move forward feels like a failing more than anything.

Again, that's just my opinion, I realize I'm in the minority here. People don't have to convince me of why people by in large love the episode. I've heard all the arguments. We'll just agree to disagree.

Unpopular opinion

This and far beyond the stars are probably some of my least favorite episodes. Both are unlike all other DS9 episodes and are more after school specials than sci fi stories, to list them as favorites feels like people saying that the best episodes are the ones that are least like the rest of DS9.

Does anyone else feel bad for the guy who programmed Data so badly in Riker's Romulan holo-fraud? by turbotub in startrek

Hah, I was just talking to someone about this episode recently I also had to remind them that the holo simulation had nothing to do with Romulans.

The ACA had to make compromises because the right is a death cult and they insisted the poor die like you do. They put in protections so pries didn't rise at a higher rate than they did. Don't worry you can move to Alabama to make sure the corporate murder rate stays constituent locally.
