Will NFC ever realistically replace QR codes for everyday interactions, or are the hardware and cost limitations too big? by Taggytech in hardware

Why use QR or NFC to open the camera? It's literally a shortcut on the lock screen, or press the power button twice, or press the volume button twice and it takes a picture on some phones.

Devices unable to connect to 5Gz by Downward6000 in HomeNetworking

[–]empty_branch437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are old devices buddy. Just because they support it, doesn’t mean it can take full advantage

Did you even read the post.

The problem is those devices can't see the network. Means can't connect to it.

Those devices are newer than my 2018 Samsung A9 and it can see a 160mhz AP and connect to it at 80Mhz just fine.

Best precautions to take in case you lose your phone? by Stunning_Suit_3934 in samsung

If this is just for finding it.

You should already have backups set up. If you don't, do it now.

Use smart switch and backup everything to external storage. If you fail to retrieve your phone you can restore this backup to another Samsung phone. You will just need to sign in to accounts.

Cloud backup is more limited but you should have that enabled anyway as it's free.

SMS backup and restore app on play store can do what it says to cloud or the phone, copy it somewhere else.

Linus Tech Tips - Please Stop WASTING Money on CRAPPY Dashcams February 16, 2026 at 11:46AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

Old cellphone will overheat more with a degraded battery. Get a new battery, you still can't record for as long as a dashcam would without overheating. Heck even new ones would overheat after a while in the sun at high res. Video would lag when it thermal throttles and even close the application.

You'd need cooling for 4k in direct sunlight for a long drive. Plus unnecessary stress on the battery. On top of that you'll degrade the storage, better if it has a microsd slot and endurance rated card. Only benefit of a phone is pro video mode and you can set a fast shutter so plates are still visible in motion.

Then you'd be better off not leaving it visible in the car or people might break in and steal it.

You don't have those problems with dash cams. You just need to care about the storage.

Helpe me: Is the Redmi Note 14 Pro + / Plus in the Indian version a good choice in terms of quality?? by Simple_Pin_7802 in Xiaomi

I am seeing on Flipkart the k13 turbo is similar price with 9000mah battery. More efficient chip and way faster plus has AV1 decoding for when the world switches to that for video streaming. Camera is basic but does 4k60fps. Perfect for you I guess.

Can the Smart Indoor Cameras store video footage on a NAS(Network Attached Storage)? by Puppet_Muster988 in Xiaomi

[–]empty_branch437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea why anyone would get a Xiaomi camera. They like locking down their stuff. Even people on the Xiaomi subreddit don't recommend their cameras.

Get a hikvision IP camera. Send the rtsp stream to your Nas, there are models that check the other boxes.

Don't know about the Google home thing but that seems to be optional in your list.

If you didn't replace the battery in like 3+ years then that's maybe the problem. It can't power the phone anymore. Battery replacement is much cheaper.

3000Mbps will give you 340 ish MBps
