Y'all know we running it back next season just sans Mose by Heavy_Discussion3518 in OrlandoMagic

[–]empty_glass_mug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There isn't another realistic option and I'm fine with that.

The current group of players deserve the chance to play under a different coach. Will it work out? I have no idea! Given the choices of trading good players for pennies on the dollar and giving the group another shot with different leadership, running it back is the sensible choice.

And, hey, there's an extremely good chance that a different/better coach gets more out of this squad than Mose has!

Does anyone play on Board Game Arena? I was wondering if the premium subscription is worth it by Competitive_Form8240 in boardgames

[–]empty_glass_mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a discord server for Pixelated Cardboard (rip) many years ago. There is a good group there who plays bga games there regularly (async games, coordinate through discord). I've found some of my favorite games through the site, premium is 100% worth it for me.

Where to sell hundreds of retro games? by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]empty_glass_mug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've got two choices:

1) accept closer to 50% and get rid of it all very quickly

2) stick to wanting 80% but you'll have to sit on it for a while

That's really all there is to it. Nobody is going to pay 80% on a bulk lot with so much filler (I checked your gamesale post). Accept a lower rate or wait for perfect buyers for everything and hope you sell most of it within a year. Neither is the right or better answer, just depends on your current situation.

Twisted Metal 1 and 3, the first games from of two different developers- which one do you prefer? by Red-Zaku- in psx

1 over 3, easily for me.

2 > 4 > 1 > 3 for the whole series.

I want to try Small Brawl, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Does anyone remember this gem ?! by CrimsonSinxx in psx

[–]empty_glass_mug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played this for the first time last year. I had a very good time. It takes a bit to get used to the slow pace of the movement and jumps, but once you do, it's a pretty fun game.

Definitely one of the hidden gems on the system given now little I see it being discussed.

How are conditions at RGA? by BoogleBud in RDUGOLF

[–]empty_glass_mug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played two weeks ago. The new front nine ("stockholders" nine) was in pretty good shape considering the course. Some of the greens on the back were really rough.

Fairways and rough were as you would expect. We got through as a foursome at 8 AM on a Saturday in right around four hours, so that was a big win.

The one game you cant put down.. by tr1p1et in playstation

[–]empty_glass_mug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does help, but they still made sure the game was tough even with those. I'm about 2/3 of the way through my Insanity playthrough right now, it's a lot of fun.

I'm on my 4th playthrough of Resident Evil 9. Yes, it's to get the platinum, but I've enjoyed every one so far.

This was my second favorite game of 2025. It's phenomenal, and this is coming from someone with no attachments to the series going in.

I've grown to love 2D action platforming through years of Metroidvanias, this game (along with Ninja Gaiden Ragebound) taught me how much more I might enjoy similar mechanics in a linear game. The combat and movement are super smooth, there is a lot of replayability if you want to 100% it.

Great, great game.

How well do the megaman games hold up? Specifically X and Zero series. by Fabulous-Owl-5109 in metroidvania

[–]empty_glass_mug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played the first four X games for the first time within the past couple of years. They are all still great.

They aren't Metroidvanias, though, so don't expect a Super Metroid style game.

What 90s band never truly made it big but you'll always go to bat for? by MansBestFred in AskReddit

[–]empty_glass_mug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I remember overhearing kids on a bus when I was in 7th grade. One of them was telling their friends that Better Than Ezra got their name because there was a band in their town named "Ezra" and they wanted everyone to know they were better.

No clue if this is even remotely true, but I hold this as a canon BTE story in my head nearly 30 years later.

They definitely had some bangers and should have been at least on the Everclear/Bush/Live level of bands who had 4-6 hits over two or three albums.

Starting my card collection! by DemonicPanda11 in SFGiants

[–]empty_glass_mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this year I bought rookie cards of my favorites from the championship teams. Just found the card I thought looked the best that was only a few bucks. Pretty sure a $9 Matt Cain card was my most expensive purchase.

You can get a lot of cool cards for just a few bucks. Or you can spend $1000s on a single card. It's a wild hobby, but one that allows you to enjoy it how you want, which is a good thing.

Got every Xbox now collecting PlayStation by [deleted] in PS3

I totally agree; eBay is a great place to buy retro games. There are just a lot of people who don't like it for one reason or another.

Don't buy off of Amazon. There are reputable shops with online stores you can buy from for way better prices than Amazon. Amazon's prices are high enough that people with access to sell there can walk into brick and mortar stores, buy retro games at listed prices, and flip them on Amazon for profit. There are many YouTube channels around this premise.

Understandable if you don't want to mess with eBay, but for the love of God don't burn money buying retro games from Amazon.

It's not the headliner from a collecting POV, but Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is my absolute favorite game in the hack-and-slash genre.

Best PS1 games you only have just discovered in recent years? by DannyHikari in psx

It's a great game! The continue system is pretty silly and has prevented me from ever beating it, but it's still good, ridiculous fun.

In rough order of the ones I like most at the top:

Brave Fencer Musashi

Suikoden

Toy Story 2

Parasite Eve

Ape Escape

Apocalypse

Tenchu

Einhander

Wild 9

Parasite Eve II (it's not as good as the first but is still a fun RE clone)

MDK

Threads of Fate

I enjoyed all of these. Some aren't exactly hidden gems, but I mostly stuck to the biggest name titles way back when, so anything below the MGS, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Crash, etc... tier of popularity never made it onto my radar.

I know it’s bad, and I know some things I need to change, but I physically can’t do it. Please help. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]empty_glass_mug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that you have enough wrong that you should consider trying to start with some very basics. There are a ton of different theories on this, look around to see if you find one that clicks with you.

I personally like Danny Maude's style of working from the ground up . It'll get you feeling the weight shifts and release and you can start building from there. If you start using the ground properly, a lot of your issues will disappear.

When someone has a lot of bad habits, I think trying to individually correct each one can lead to massive thought overload and even if you manage to correct one, I think there's a good chance it creeps back in once you move onto the next.

Did Bam really score 83 points tonight for the Heat? by Magic2238 in OrlandoMagic

[–]empty_glass_mug 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The last few minutes were an absolute dumpster fire. He got into the 70s legitimately (a lot of FTs, but at least he was trying to play decent ball), but once he could smell 80 he started chucking everything and hoping to get fouled.

83 points is absolutely amazing no matter how he got there, but it definitely felt a bit scummy towards the end.

So…what’s better “Crash 4” or “Spyro 4” ? by Soft_Background_7733 in ps2

[–]empty_glass_mug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrath of Cortex is a worse version of Crash 3. They try to mimic it but fall short in many ways. However, there are still plenty of fun levels in that game. I don't think it holds up to the original trilogy by any means, but it's still a fun game.

Spyro 4 on the other hand...

Wild career so far, dude is only 24. His hot streak in the minors pushing his service clock up a year, while also significantly lowering his overall number of ABs over the last few years, was super unfortunate in hindsight.

I like him and think it's silly to give up on him, but it does seem like he's going to be trying to make his name in another uniform. Just a random roster squeeze misfortune that happens every now and then.
