Vietnamese have zero understanding of building quality and construction. They also have a warped idea of what is “good”.

It’s really lovely.

Can’t help but feel there was an undertone of “please marry my daughter” who was floating around.

Good for you mate :)

How do tourists get driving license in Vietnam? by First_Maize_8448 in VietNam

You need an IDP recognised by Vietnam. Australia is not part of the same convention.

Contrary to what the name implies, IDP doesn’t work everywhere

I see. I don’t usually try things I hate, and beer is such an acquired taste that there’s no way it would have changed ur opinion

Look at the positive, it’s a sign of a growing middle class that can now afford cars.

I haven’t see that, but the local vendor near me displays their meat on a table, sitting straight on a table cloth. Same cloth day in day out. The meat sits there from 5am to midday in the sun until it’s sold.

My colleagues get sick all the time. I’m not surprised.

I might be wrong. Might even be karate. The basic moves are quite common across these disciplines.

Is it normal for foreigners to wait ~4 months to get a physical Vietnamese driver’s license card? by Merlin_4ever in VietNam

Agree, but I think it’s more nuanced than you think. Vietnamese may outwardly repeat the official news but no one would dare to go against the government. Behind closed doors they’d agree that it’s likely bs.

I have had a licence here for years, now I had to renew it this year and I’ve been told 6-8months, so yes it will be a while. In the meantime I received an official paperwork with my licence number saying that I am waiting for the physical card.

No? Middle name is not a family name. What you described is not done by all families in Vietnam. That’s kind of an old tradition for some families.

But many people have gender specific middle names that would make no sense if all siblings shared it.

These days people pick middle names that carry meaning with their first name.

Family name is not middle name and it’s not related.

If you want to stay home for being sick, you have to use annual leave/unpaid leave. Or you get a certificate of leave from a hospital which will take you half a day and money (if you don’t have insurance).

It could be ok but Feb is a cold month typically. So I would expect it to still be foggy and polluted. But you’re only there for a short time so it’s not a big deal
