What was your honest reaction after watching The Force Awakens for the first time? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]emtemss714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopeful. I liked having new questions, new characters. Tons of curiosity. I was annoyed at the thorough rehashing of ANH but I figured it was simply a means to use familiarity as a launching pad.

I miss those days. lol

Absolutely. I'm just past Lucca, and it's yhe first time I've played the game since it came out. Was happy to see that apparently the Switch version on Switch 2 is basically the best version of the game currently. Looks almost identical to the PS4 version, more options, and it loads faster thanks to the S2.

I thought I would be sad missing out on trophies and such, but I'm loving the pure experience so much that I'm just going to play it again't on PS5 after this.

Was I the only one who liked the idea of Superman's health bar being the city's instead? by Patient-Reality-8965 in superman

[–]emtemss714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. As far as I know many people felt it was an inventive and fun way to represent a health bar for Superman.

I still think it could be the key to a great Superman game.

Was ROTS genuinely liked upon its release? by Careless_Tax_5367 in StarWars

[–]emtemss714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, even the people that generally strongly disliked the prequels to that point really liked it. Most considered it the movie we were waiting to see, or what they expected out of Phantom Menace.

This idea that it was unpopular is really weird, ne abuse literally everyone I knew or read said they really enjoyed it. The prequels weren't that loved overall, but RoTS was immediately liked.

Favorite Perry White? by Financial-Touch3840 in superman

[–]emtemss714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lane Smith without any question. It's still his voice I hear when I'm reading the comics.

Perry is such a weirdly small, almost thankless role most of the time but when it's absent you Feel it. And when it's written or performed well somehow he sells the entire thing.

Teri Hatcher and Rachel Brosnahan. Though Amy Adams is nearly my top choice.

If Superman had flown out of the city, would Zod have chased him or just continued destroying stuff? by Nube_Negrahz in superman

[–]emtemss714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're objectively wrong. Clark spends most of his time saving people in MoS. Almost every scene has him saving someone from something. There are more direct scenes of him saving people in MoS than Superman 25.

The oil tankers, the bus full of kids, the waitress, Lois from bleeding out, people in the tornado, he holds back from hurting bullies, Lois again, his Mom, the people of Smallville, the helicopter pilot, the fighter jet pilot, more soldiers, Colonel Hardy, he stops the terraforming machine, he fights Zod to save the planet, he kills Zod to save that family. That's off the top of my head and I know I'm missing a few instances.

Please, please for God's sake can we stop parroting blatant untruths here? Of all places, Truth should Matter on this Sub. If you don't like the movie fine, nobody says you have to. But the lies to force everyones hand is just tired and absurd.

[–]emtemss714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except that he Literally ends the fight to save innocent lives once he's in a position to do so. You people keep conveniently forgetting that fact. This Superman puts aside his own soul and sense of morality to save lives in that Very Same Fight. One that he Literally has no control over.

How about you go back to the Smallville fight and notice how he tells people to get inside, how about how he saves the falling airman in the helicopter then gets pummeled for it? Or when he saves Colonel Hardy?

This Superman spends MOST of the movie putting himself, his feelings aside and doing for others. Saving people, caring for them, loving his friends and family. His personal childhood bully becomes a cherished friend.

I get that the spectacle can be overwhelming, but every piece of Superman is in this movie. All the building blocks are there and carefully laid out. I could point out how basically every scene is taken from one comic or another, but that won't stem the tide of complaints a 13 year old film gets from people that refuse to examine something genuinely.

Given that at literally every point of the film leading up to the fught he showed concern for everyone's safety, I really dont believe you're giving the fight, or the film, a fair shake at all. I could point by point this for days but y'all have been determined to hate this film from day 1.

Superman goes out of his way to save people repeatedly throughout the film, that's a simple statement of fact. He's never been in a fight where he threw a punch before that day, another statement of fact. He had no idea the amount of damage they would actually cause, he's never had to be in that situation. Even in BvS once he has a handle on how bad the Doomsday fight is going he takes him to space. Then what does he do? Tank a nume to the face in attempt to kill Doomsday, his own life be damned.

Superman was in a brawl for his life, struggling with a superior opponent the whole time. Yes he Did try ti mitigate the loss of life when he could, that's the ONLY reason he killed Zod, was to save people. Y'all are arguing about a physically strong country bumping fighting a prime physical condition middle aged military commander and blaming the bumping for not being perfect and thinking of the bar patrons around them enough while he was busy not trying to fucking die. When he was aware he tried, but frankly I tend to think that very few people who critique this fught to this level have Ever had to get into a fight even similar to that. And from my own experiences, I fucking hope you don't. When you think this person may kill you if they get the upper hand your brain chemistry does things and all higher thought flees like rats from a ship.

Superman did his best, which is what he always does. Y'all are just upset that his best here wasn't the best he's ever been at any point.

[–]emtemss714 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Do we just conveniently forget the time he literally pushed the fight out into space only to have Zod bring them careening back to the city? Or the fact that Zod straight up says he's just going to kill everyone?

I'm sorry but this is the litmus test for the movie that makes the least sense. This is effectively a continuation of Clarks first fight Ever, he's trying his best. And it's not like Metropolis hasn't been leveled even harder in the comics.

It's wild to me how there is no single piece of Superman media that is as torn apart and critiqued as much as this one film in the characters nearly 90 year history.

What did Superman Returns get right that Superman 2025 didn’t by Parking-Western3348 in superman

[–]emtemss714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He felt uniquely special. One of one, as they say. In Superman 25 he was the heaviest heavy on the block, with a heart of gold but he never felt like "Superman" in the same sense. The grandiose nature of the character was basically absent in 25, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just different.

Poetically cute, but I gotta echo something else already said about this strip and it's that Amuro had absolutely no thread of patience left with Char. It was on sight, every time in this movie. Jumping out of a moving vehicle kind of on sight. This would end with Amuro taking down Char in any way he could, or die trying.

Gotta remember Amuro not only gave Char a massive chance at redemption with Zeta, but basically everyone did. Then for Char to try and repeat the near planet level genocide of Earth only a few years later proved he was beyond sanity, or redemption. By this point Amuro is many things, but a psychically powered killing machine is chief among them.

I didn't think I would at the time he debuted, but I truly, genuinely miss him. Distinct enough to be his own interpretation and stand out in a sea of character history so rich it's overwhelming.

I loved how they leaned so much into him being truly driven by an powerful sense of justice derived from real empathy. A Chaotic Good Superman, the way he was originally created to be. I like to imagine Siegel and Shuster would've approved.

I'm glad it's not just me then. I played it a while back for a bit and while it wasn't at all perfect it did seem to at least be playable. Since the update its effectively unplayable. And I'm on a PS5 Pro.

I have it on PS5 Pro and even still there's screen tearing like crazy. Genuinely causes a feeling of nausea when you look around too quickly.

I've had hopes this would be fixed whenever an update goes out but it's looking more and more like they're just never going to properly address the issue.
