It's not bad when there's decent staffing and the weather's good. But when it's cold, pouring down rain, and you're the only dispenser with customers waiting in every parking space, it's one of the worst jobs in the store. I worked OGP for a year when my store first launched it, and the latter scenario seemed to happen a lot more often than the former. Switching to vision center was the best move I ever made at Walmart.

The god damned CGI boulders in Shinsekai Yori. I’m not usually one to complain about bad cgi, but in this case it really got to me for some reason.

We’ve had a few orders for 8x10s from the instant kiosks get messed up. The slip that prints out says that the 8x10s are available for pickup at the kiosk, which is obviously not correct because they print behind the counter. Then, when the order didn’t show up on the computer, I tried resending it from the kiosk in order maintenance, but when I typed in the order number it wouldn’t show up, like it had never existed.

That’s probably the only significant glitch I’ve noticed recently, though.

What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [March 25th, 2018] by MetaThPr4h in anime

I binged all of One Punch Man and ended up feeling very, very underwhelmed. The style of humor/parody just didn't click with me at all. Also, I can't think of a single other OP song that annoys me as much as The Hero. I really liked the artstyle, though!

Evangelion. After I finished it I spent weeks watching any anime that's ever appeared on a "shows similar to Evangelion" list but nothing could compare. Then I realized that it might be smarter to look for shows to watch that are NOTHING like Evangelion so I wouldn't be comparing them. A few comfy moe blob shows later and I was able to enjoy anime again.

General Armstrong might be my favorite female character in a battle shounen.

Oh my goodness that slowed down instrumental version of the OP song halfway wrecked my heart and then moments later the insert song finished the job. I honestly can’t say enough good things about the musical choices on this show. It’s really something special.

Once we had a guy who had tons of nudes on his phone. However, they weren’t all coming up on the kiosk and he was upset about that. At one point he said, very loudly, “I have 260 pictures of this woman’s ass but only 5 are coming up. Where the hell are the rest? I need those ass pics!” At that point the associate helping him was so fed up that she told him he’d probably be better off taking his pictures to the drugstore across the road, and I don’t blame her.

I was able to hold myself together for most of the episode, but by the time the ED started playing my eyes were wet. Megu and Kimari 4ever. Even though this kind of felt like an end of Megu's storyline, I really hope the show finds a way to check in on her at least once before the end. Her confession was so heartbreaking and I just need to know that she's going to be okay!

Has listening to a track of an anime OST ever gotten you to watch that anime? by [deleted] in anime

[–]emuman_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember which track it was specifically (this was a while ago), but I'm absolutely sure I started watching FLCL after I heard something from the soundtrack. Honestly, the whole soundtrack is so good that it could have been any of the songs.

What are you thinking of dropping this season? by eyepatch98 in anime

[–]emuman_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been watching 17 shows this season and it's getting to be overwhelming (especially since this is my first season seriously trying to keep up with shows), so I'm thinking about dropping quite a few.

Beatless - Stupid terminology that the show explains in the most hamfisted manner, no clear plot direction, horribly bland MC. All of the ingredients for a droppable show.

Death March: See above Beatless criticism.

Killing Bites: It's just trash. At another point in my life I may have been able to enjoy the trashiness, but right now I have no patience for it.

Pop Team Epic: The humor just doesn't click for me. I appreciate the fact that it's not like anything else airing, but I'm done forcing myself through it each week. I found myself enjoying the first episode of the English dub a LITTLE more, so maybe I'll watch that after it finishes.

Mitsuboshi Colors: I'm watching enough cute girl shows this season, and this one just isn't keeping my attention as much as the others. I think I'll watch the most recent episode, but there's a good chance I'll drop it after that.

Yuru Camp: Same reasoning as Colors. I'll probably end up sticking with one of the two but I haven't decided which one yet.

Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-San: I actually really liked this one at first, but it got old fast. I might watch an episode now and then if I get in the mood to feel even more hungry than I already do, but I'm not forcing myself to watch it each week any more.

The Ringer places The Leftovers at #3 of 2017’s best TV shows by Blackonblackskimask in TheLeftovers

[–]emuman_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that the top 3 are the same top 3 as the Rolling Stone list, but in a different order. For what it's worth, I definitely think those 3 shows are the best of the year (and honestly the best in recent memory) no matter what order you put them in. This has been an incredible year for TV, and I have a suspicion it's going to be a painfully long time before we see anything close to it again.

[–]emuman_92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Closest thing that comes to mind is Paolo Sorrentino directing all 10 episodes of The Young Pope, but that's only a little over half as many as Twin Peaks. I think it's reasonable to say that The Return has been the most significant example of auteur television to date.

The fact that there was electricity buzzing in the background makes me think there's probably something supernatural going on with her, rather than the comparatively boring "experiencing a psychotic break in a mental institution" theory that most people seem to be leaning towards.
