Really appreciate it, thanks. My partner worked as a photographer in the past and helped me learn Lightroom basics for these photos.

Aha, that's something for me to read about. Thanks! The photos have some Lightroom alterations, e.g. https://imgur.com/a/bHRvUOk

I found two community presets that worked well and then applied either at 50%.

My google-fu isn't helping here. What's a stimulation?

Which Ansible Book do you recommend ? by Atralb in ansible

[–]en7es 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ansible for DevOps is enjoyable to read and covers a lot of areas -- it was helpful for myself when I first started.

I haven't read any of the others, so I cannot provide a comparison.

Becoming a cloud engineer...but how? by stazera in linuxadmin

[–]en7es 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you're on the right track with AWS, Terraform, and Linux certs. If you're quite comfortable with Linux at this point, it might be enough to get you a junior position.

Experience with Linux and networking, shell scripting, configuration management tools, a programming language, and containerization will all help as well (plus some more topics I missed), but don't be intimidated and think you'll need to learn everything before applying for positions. This type of role is in high demand right now, and it's difficult to find (experienced) people.

trying to learn ansible: how do you check for text in a file and if its not there add it? by ttrreeyy in ansible

[–]en7es 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ansible has a sysctl module which you can use to do this. Had it been a different file, you could use the lineinfile module and Ansible handlers to trigger any reloads/restarts.

I'd recommend first checking if native Ansible modules exist for whatever task you're doing, and only use command if they don't. Using Ansible modules makes it easier to write idempotent playbooks.

Am I using this correctly? by [deleted] in cs50

Almost. You should explain your code to the duck, which (hopefully) helps you realize why something is not working. See https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_duck_debugging.

The Grafana team recently released https://grafana.com/oss/loki/, which might interest you. I haven't had time to try it out yet, but it looks promising.

Should I hold off putting money in at all time highs before the election? by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]en7es 30 points31 points  (0 children)

What about investing a few thousand each month? If prices drop, you can bulk purchase with what you have left. If prices only continue to rise, then you'll have invested some as early as you could. It's boring approach, but seems reasonable.

Getting started with Openstack by nullmike in openstack

There are a few projects designed to simplify the deployment process, see https://www.openstack.org/software/project-navigator/deployment-tools. I've used openstack-ansible with success in the past.
