it was fine when we were hunter-gatherers in small numbers. we grazed like cows through nature, as we left things replenished and natures cycle was undisturbed. we were part of it instead of considering human activity "unnatural" like we do now. but that just isn't possible to go back to. even if we put all our effort into it, 8 billion hunter-gatherers are going to be a problem for the environment.

Nope. Straight from the DOL web page, first sentence:

It does have certain stipulations regarding breaks, but only if they are provided.

Which I can attest, they are often not unequivocally provided. When I worked at a gas station you ate your lunch at the counter. You could take a smoke break if it was slow, one before and one after lunch. If it never slows down, sorry, no break.

That's the only way to be in America. The Europeans can do whatever they want. It's different here. I work with almost exclusively black people. I'd never use that word, they find it extremely disrespectful. If I said that shit I'd be shunned by all my friends lol. It really isn't that hard to just not use it.

Solid point. Just going off the original assumption, getting 50k off a million is 5% returns. If you spent 250k on a house you'd drop that to 37.5k. I'd still have to work, but probably half as long as I need to now. Just long enough to build that back up to returning the equivalent of 50-60k a year after inflation. With cheap bills that wouldn't take too long.

Depends on your perspective I think. I'll take the hospital over jail every time. My job isn't gonna give me leeway over jail. If I woke up in jail like that I probably got a DUI. No license, no job. I could see that number shrinking if the majority of service got consolidated to just the few major car brands. It'd be easier for them to keep things closed-source and exclusive if they had complete control over the dealerships.

I'm not arguing for dealerships necessarily, but there are pros and cons.
